Victor Osimhen is a major doubt for Super Eagles ‘ next month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Crocodiles of Lesotho and Warriors of Zimbabwe.
Osimhen limped off the Super Eagles 2-2 draw against Saudi Arabia last weekend.
The 24-year-old returned to Napoli on Saturday for medical examinations.
A statement posted on Napoli’s official club website confirmed that the striker has suffered a medium-grade lesion of the biceps femoris in his right thigh.

It is expected that Osimhen will be ruled out for at least three of Napoli’s next matches, however, Sky Sport Italia have noted that the usual recovery time for this sort of injury is typically around four to six weeks.
The forward will miss Napoli’s clash gainst Hellas Verona in Serie A, as well as the Champions League trip to Union Berlin, as well as the visit from Milan the following weekend.
The Super Eagles will host Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on November 13.
The three-time African champions will travel away to Zimbabwe for their next fixture three days later.
In November 2020, Osimhen was sidelined for several weeks after he dislocated his shoulder playing for the Super Eagles against Sierra Leone in Benin City.

Napoli is up to no good leading up to January where they know they might lose Osimhen either way by transfer and for the Nations cup……They are spoilers and which kain unfortunate thing be dis now..I bet you Laurentiis is going to take advantage of this…..If Osimhen misses the Afcon this time around it will not be good for his legacy..
Some times it is good to rest certain star players when the games do not matter so much.. we have a large pool of strikers who are yet to taste action, oshimen should have been given his deserve rest in that game.. now we will miss him when the main games starts.. awoniyi should replace him
What deserve rest? Cr7, Messi, Modric, Muller even Lewandowski dnt select which match to play for there NT, all players wish to have enough NT appearances and goals before they hang up there soccer boot.
Good point Ololo.
What does it profit us to use him for a friendly and then not have him for the real business? Nothing wrong with Osimhen playing friendlies, but the squad should be rotated, to minimize the likelihood of injury to key players.
Injury can and does happen at anytime to anyone, but you can also invite injury by failing to plan properly.
Soccer and injury have been 5&6 from time, to be up there with yekini of blessed memory in top scorer chart, you gat involve in most matches for the NT, if LM10 and CR7 still deeply in there various NT at the ripe age of 38, I see know reason why VO shd not, Napoli gat know choice but free him for next AFCON if fit and invited.
Young man, you’re a great player but pls pls be more technical, less gra gra play more with ur head. Truth can be bitter at times, we want the best for u. reminder Marco van Bastan. Same thing applies to Awoniyi.
Pompei. Why did you say that. All great players are playing friendlies. Why should oshimne be different. What about if he gets injured in a napoli game.
Well, now that he is injured and unavailable for the matches that really matter, NA WHO THAT ONE COME EPP?
Like I said in my previous comment, Osimhen and others can play friendlies. But the coaches need to rotate the squad to minimize the likelihood of injury. Sometimes, injury happens, and nothing can be done to prevent it. But caution is never a bad thing.
Interesting video about the Osimhen-Napoli ruckus.
Henry’s displeasure is palpable. The man was absolutely disgusted.
It’s unfortunate that many countries including Italy have complete idiots whose mind space is still in the dark ages, as far as racism is concerned. They all need to wake up and join us in the 21st century.

Napoli would try to stop him from Nations cup if Osi concede to that foul plan he is doom for life. Is he as great as Drogba , Salah ,Yaya or even Manne, and these are players that honor their national team. I suspected the manner he sat down on the field and he immediately removed his sheen guard prompting the coach to make substitution. When he got off the field Perosoko was accusing of removing the sheen ,he just walked away telling him he is injured. Can perosoko instill discipline. Osimein is a stubborn player even more than Dennis but because of his all round game and his scoring prowess we tend to overlook this
Osimene will be missed, no shaking we have others. Onuachu and Josh Maja are to be considered. I n I will be happy for Onuachu to come.
Onuachu has never been able to convince me he is super eagles material. Too sluggish on the ball. And seems no NT coach has been able to play to his strength. He needs to improve if he hopes to get more call ups. See his woeful time in England. Failed to up his game and deliver when it mattered most.
@Ignatius Abo did you see Umar Sadiq move yesterday?.. put the ball in the back of the net twice. If Osimhen doesn’t make it no shaking the attackers who are in the squad are good enough. I think the coach should consider calling up Nathan Tella for that game.
@Ignatius Abo as for Onuachu he is not SE material the guy is too slow mehn.
