Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos says a ‘great result’ and not revenge is what they are looking for in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The two teams will renew their rivalry at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Friday.
The Super Eagles were victorious the last time the two countries met at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The West Africans won 4-2 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time.

Broos said their target is to have a good result against the Super Eagles and not to avenge the defeat.
“We just want to have a great result against Nigeria because it’s the qualifier for the World Cup. We don’t think about revenge. It’s a totally different game, we play for qualifiers for the World Cup and you know losing the game should not really be a disaster because after those two games we have six games to play but I rather not to have a defeat in Nigeria,” Broos told reporters.
“We all know about them but they know all about us also. I think they will not start the game with the same mentality that they did for AFCON. ”
“They know now how strong we are and we have know to that also. We have to use our status being third in AFCON but we have to stay humble also.
“We still have to work, we still have to fight and we still need the same mentality that we had in AFCON, but it’s different how we approach the game, certainly from the Nigeria side but also they have changes.

@James you people should allow the Guy talk. Must he Say he will loose to Nigeria?.. What is wrong with you people?. One one had you will support the Mind Boggling decisions by NFF and then Crucify the Opposition who realises that these NFF sabotage thier own team? and will definitely try to Capitalise on that?. If you were Broos a seasoned AFCON Coach who coached our Neighbours Cameroon to AFCON Glory with a Average Squad, Won’t you be confident. If NFF don’t want to learn, Reality will make them learn by force. Because Reality is If we loose they are Gone Both NFF Cronies and Finidi. So let them Shoot themsleves in the foot. But Allow Broos to be confident he earned he took SA from Brink of Dispare to AFCON bronze and a strong Challenger in our Group yet in our Case we want to take SE from Silver at AFCON to rank 100 in World Football then So be it. Let it all play out

Does this man drink water at all? 24-hour boasting!
He is scared! He knows SA will get the beating of their lives in Oyo and want Finidi to give him clues, which is not forthcoming from the SE gaffer. I like the way Finidi is talking less. His boys will do the talking on the Uyo pitch on Friday
They have gone to search for our players on YouTube and seen the outcome. Circus at work now….. it’s left for our so called superstars to prove themselves!!!!
