Nigeria Premier Football League outfit Rangers have celebrated Kenneth Igboke’s invitation to the Super Eagles, reports Completesports.com.
Igboke was named as replacement for the injured Victor Osimhen by Super Eagles head coach Finidi George ahead of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Bafana Bafana of South Africa and Squirrels of Benin Republic.
Osimhen will be sidelined for around four weeks after sustaining an injury, while in action for his club Napoli.
Igboke earned his invitation on the back of his impressive performance for Rangers this season.

Congratulations on your first National team call-up for next month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Benin Republic. We’re incredibly proud of you and confident you’ll make us all proud.
“Best of luck, Igboke.”
The left-back is expected to arrive Super Eagles’ camp this weekend.

Look, I for one have no problem against home base players but at a time when we have a glut of quality players available to represent the Super Eagles, utilizing unproven players is hugely worrying.
I have to be brutally honest, the way the NFF are going about this 2026 World Cup qualification campaign does noes come across as a template of success.
Firstly you appoint an untested coach in international football who surrounds himself with assistants of his own level. And then pepper the team with sprinkles of Africa based players – the most we have had in any qualifier in a while.
Heck the squad against Sao Tome and Principe just a few months ago was way more stronger with only one Africa based NPFL goalkeeper.
Now we seem to be watering down the team against far more formidable oppositions.
Just like in 201, i think the Federal Government should set up National Task Force to support the NFF in managing Nigeria’s campaign to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
The task seems to brobdingnagian for the NFF to handle by themselves.
We fans have now been reduced to fasting and praying; what the hell??
I love Head Coach Finidi George and hope that all eligible Nigeria players get their fair share of Super Eagles exposure if they are good enough.
For NFF’s sake, I do hope and pray that Finidi, his backroom staff and players they cobble together prove good enough for the monumental tasks at hand!
There can be no excuse for Nigeria failing to seize the moment, other than incompetence!
Abegi, which “glut of quality” LBs do we have? Apart from the injured Zanusi, Onyemachi is average and Collins is perennial Second Division benchwarmer!!
Folks should let go of this low self-esteem and inferiority complex about rubbing shoulders with Oyibo, and allow each player succeed or fail on INDIVIDUAL merit.
In Yoruba, there is a saying “aje ke lano, omo ku leni” – this is being played out before our very “koro koros” and is just absolutely disgraceful, Nigeria is surely cursed to have the people it has running it’s affairs – first the abominable NFF, then they appoint a very unpopular coach, unpopular not in name but in terms of merit, and then he promptly proves us right with the nonsense team he put out for the Mali game, which by the way, dealt Nigeria it’s most shocking and monumental loss because apparently some record was broken or created due to that loss and now to add insult to injury – Finidi, shows his crooked hand again by immediately going back to the club he managed, which he no doubt has allegiances to and picks a player from that team, no doubt to start repaying some “favours” and probably serving his own agenda with this selection – As we all know, it is Nigeria and nothing will be done and he will get away with it even at Nigeria’s expense, there’s nothing new there as that is what everyone in any power does in Nigeria – they are all selfish, greedy self serving savages – so rant over!
Needless to say, I am not best pleased by this news at all, just as much as I am not pleased about Finidi’s appointment – I just hope that this wont be the final straw that permanently breaks the camel’s back in terms of Nigeria’s footballing present and future! – at this rate, Nigeria is rapidly headed for footballing obscurity and they may NEVER recover from this complete destruction of this proud nations last surviving source of joy! Absolute madness!!
Come June 7th and June 10th.Please off your TV or go to bed, all of a sudden the coach injected 3 home based players, that makes him a crook. You guys are real. Please stop your hatred and support the man. If na white man inject the 3 players you will not come here calling him a crook. So what if he loses to Mali, has the previous coaches not lost to other teams. Please le the guy be abeg
Because you support the man does that mean that I must support him also? Hatred? how is it hatred when I am simply stating what I believe rightly or wrongly?
If it was a white man I won’t be against it? Sorry for your loss, but I am not like you – this your statement shows how you think, such a thing would NEVER cross my own mind, If you have no sense then keep shut – you people make me want to puke!
And learn English if you must write in it! – It’s not “off your tV, it’s “turn off your TV” FFS
You have no sense of excellence in you, a typical Nigerian, yes man, a record is set in a loss that has never happened before and you are attacking a person who sees that as relevant – shame on you, it’s because of your likes that Nigeria has been backsliding back into the dark ages ever since independence.
Finidi is our man. Anybody wey no like am fit hug transformer. He will do well.
Mark my word come june Nigeria will qualify for the world cup.
What about Joseph DE RAMPAGING Atule, the deadly Enyimba striker?
Please we need more home based players. Forget CHAN, world cup qualifier is the best way to try new players.
Pikin why say em mama no go sleep, that pikin too should forget about sleep.
