Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has revealed forward Victor Osimhen and winger and Samuel Chukwueze will not be part of his squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
Osimhen and Chukwueze picked up injuries in Nigeria’s friendly draw against Saudi Arabia last month.
Chukwueze was expected to be named in the squad for both games after returning to training at AC Milan last week.
Peseiro has however confirmed that the duo will miss the two games.
“Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen will not be called up during the next break; we want to avoid any risks,” Peseiro told TV Play, as per Milan Reports.
“I was very sorry for their injuries: the clubs pay the players, and we constantly collaborate with them.”
The Super Eagles will entertain Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Thursday, November 16.
The encounter against Zimbabwe billed for the Huye Stadium will take place three days later.

Coach Jose Pesiero should show seriousness by ensuring that Super Eagles grow in quality before the AFCON in January.
There are certain players that must be on his list I believe bcos they are offered for free.
Tella Nathan, Dele Bashiru, Adams Akor, and goalkeepers Atubolu & Rasheed or Arthur Okonkwo.
Super Eagles are already seen as potential cup winners but we all know that no team wins a tournament without an outstanding goalkeeper.
I look forward to a first team comprising Tella, Dele Bashiru and Atubolu amongst the other boys.
This is true. Good players are needed in the Super Eagles
THERE IS NO CAUSE FOR ALARM. WE HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH THAT IS ALSO 95% BETTER AT THE MOMENT IF COACH PASEIRO KNOW WHAT HIS DOING WITHOUT SENTIMENT/EGOISM.
Nigeria should forget about Afcon 2026 now, they have already lost. They are too reliant on Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukueze. Now that they were injured, they are finding it very hard to win games, even against small nations. I’m just curious to see what type of magic Nigeria is going to use come January 2024..lol.
A call on Coach Pesiero to review his team list.
The following first team players are not good enough to make his first team:
Drop Chukwueze to the bench for Tella if invited.
Also drop Iwobi to the bench for Fisayo Dele Bashiru who is more productive. Bashiru is a creative midfielder and better than Alex by a mile.
Lookman has become too docile he should be moved to the bench for Moses Simon.
It’s time to introduce Akor Adams,Montpellier the real juice to the team.
On record, Akor has the best goals coefficient in Europe top leagues to win the Golden boot.
Akor scored 17 goals in norway and 7 in France. He is better than Mbape and Halaand.
Should Pesiero conduct a 4-4-2 formation, Boniface and Terem may start, then Admam comes from the bench.
Midfield of Fisayo, Tella, Simon and Ndidi (Onyedika), Iheanacho comes from the bench.
Aina, Ajayi, Omeruo, Bassey.
Goalkeeper: Atubolu or Rasheed ( Arthur Okonkwo)
*Aribo should be dropped from the team until he finds his bearing. Also, Uzohor.
Who is this one? Oga pack well just or go and sleep. He should drop Iwobi for Dele Bashiru….Bashiru ko Bashorun ga ni. Some of you will just come here and start typing like say dem dey on kolos.
I tire ooo! Wetin Musa no go see for gate..lol….
Some people just talk without senses…Akor is better than Halaand and Mbappe….Drop Iwobi for Bashiru….U don smoke gbana
I think Peseiro must summon strong and ferocious players who are in form with thier clubs who have enthusiasm to wear the white and green jersey; Super Eagles need for defensive style of play, need strong and agile goalkeerper, need expert goalkeeper trainer like Shorounmu or Enyeama to grant excellent brand for SE goalkeeper, need strong and ferocious defensive midfielders just like Anderson Esiti , Ifeanyi Matthew, new sensional boy of Enyimba Daniel Daga, SE have been lacking defensive mentality since 1994 and 2013 when SE had won thoes tow cups, so Peseiro and his technical crew must look at these serious arrays before the next AFCON. in Cote DE ‘Ivore January 13.If Peseiro implemented these arrays before AFCON. tournament , he could win this cup, I think so, cause SE have excellent talented players at strong clubs in Europe, and they are now in a high standard of form these days.
I wish Osimhen and Chukwueze a speady recovery.
However, Nigeria has so many abundant replacements for both players. No tension, my people.
Nonetheless, I am very happy today to hear that Oga Paseiro has contacted the second best goalie in South African which happened to be “Nwabali”.
I said a lot about this guy, “Nwabali,” but many people on this platform were looking at omo9ja as a clown, but today, the gaffer has listened, and made a contact with Nwabali.
God, I give thanks to you that you never put in shame. Hmmm. I hope Sean has heard the news?
Edoman nko and many of their colleagues? I am doing this because of you and I because this is the only thing that puts a smile on our faces. And by God’s grace, I will continue fighting for you Nigerians until we reach the promised land. I omo9ja will not let Nigeria down, but I need your support, my people.
Omo9ja can’t do this alone. World Cup qualifiers are already near Afcon also in January. You and I should do more. We need our best players available. Kai, welcome to Super Eagles Nwabali, and I can’t wait to see Dessers too.
Imagine having Adeleye,
Nwabali and Jonathan Rasheed for world cup qualifiers and Afcon in Ivory Coast hmm. Fingers crossed. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
Respectfully, you sharrappp lol. For your mind now, you don discover a gem for naija lol. Abeg guy go audition for AY comedy show lol. Nwabali that play for Nigeria v Mexico friendly some years ago.
AS WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS & AFCON COMPETITION IS AROUND THE CORNER, COACH PASEIRO SHOULD STOP INVITING INCONSISTENTS & BENCH-WARMERS PLAYERS INTO SUPER EAGLE’S TEAM AGAIN. AND THAT IS WHAT CAUSED ARIBO, MUSA , IZOHO TO BE FUMBLING IN SUPER EAGLE.
*** PASEIRO SHOULD MAKE A RISK BY INVITING SUPER REGULAR & CONSISTENT PLAYERS THAT ARE READY TO DIE ON PITCH.
I concur with the sentiments we need to try new players in place of poorly performing old ones. Westerhof was absolutely brilliant at that. He hardly played the same starting 11 twice. Thus even though Nigeria won Afcon in 1994 Jan/Feb, new players were introduced into the World Cup squad in June. And that squad could have gone all the way.
Let’s introduce players in form, especially where the current ones are not performing for Nigeria and don’t play regularly for their clubs.
However, I won’t mention names. There are good and objective scouts, even on this platform who can name names and back up with records. No favouritism allowed or accepted.
Only Nigerua has not announced its squad for next week’s World Cup games. What are they afraid of?
Nigeria should forget about Afcon 2026 now, they have already lost. They are too reliant on Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukueze. Gone are the Okocha and Julius Agahowa days when Nigeria used to intimidate and terrorize us. We are now in a new dispensation.
My brother, how long did you stay in Pluto? Haha welcome back 😀
