Doma United goalkeeper, Osayi Kingdom, believes players in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) have what it takes to compete with the foreign-based players in the Super Eagles.
Recall that the trio of Olorunleke Ojo, Sodiq Ismaila, and Kenneth Igboke are the only players invited by Super Eagles head coach Finidi George to the team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic, respectively.

However, in a chat with Brila FM, Osayi stated that the NPFL players have the qualities required to fight for shirt in the Super Eagles if given the opportunity to prove their worth.
“The NPFL players have what it takes to compete in the Super Eagles,” Osayi told Brila FM.
“They have all the qualities that are required.
“All they need is a chance to prove themselves; that’s it.”

Nobi your fault na, na Finidi way dey try make una feel among they give u that kind impression. Abeg make u face una rubbish league full of over 30 years old players claiming to be 22.
You all have the Chan tournament to proof yourself yet dem dey beat una left right center. I understand they might not have selected the best legs from the home based due to corruptions but it’s high time you players from the league form an association so you can have a voice to protest whenever this evil deed of selecting bad Players for the CHAN Team or any other team for national assignment. You play among yourselves and definitely you know the best among you.
National Team is not for the mediocre to come & learn the basics of football or develop. If anyone can name just 1 or 2 local players in the past 4 years who move from Nigerian league directly to Europe and stay relevant consecutively for 4 to 5 season playing in a decent league then we can begin to make case for you guys.
The best players that have represented the NT for a decade now are the academies players and foreign born players. The last time we’ve good home based players that represented the the country was the time of Enyeama, Ahmed Musa, Taiye Taiwo and Sunday Mba.
We have many foreign based players doing well that are yet to get their chance to play for Eagles. We should focus on how to bring them in & integrate them with the team gradually rather than this stupid quota system of extending invitations to those overaged and mediocre players in the Nigerian league
However exemption can be given to few exceptional ones from the league. I’ve heard of certain Ishmael right full back that has been creating lot of assist. But would have still being better if it were a friendly. Anyways make we see wetin una go play
Well said.

I believe so too. There are good super eagles materials in Nigerian leaque, the last AFCON revealed players playing in their local leaque playing in the tournament.
They did well across board so why rubbishing our own local leaque players, this is a carry over effect of what Rohr and Pesseiro treatment and some people are stuck to it even when Uzoho was fumbling some still found it difficult t o believe there are better players within the leaque who can replace him, it is that bad.
@Cyril, can you please mention that 1 or 2 players from the Nigerian league that can compete or better than our foreign based pros and actively playing at the top consecutively for at least 3 seasons ?
I’m talking about outfield players not Goalkeeper though. Even at that, with the low quality of players in the league, the Goalkeepers couldn’t have been well tested. Uzoho is a calamity of course and at some point, i will suggest we get any keeper to replace him prior introduction of Nwabali
