As the hours and minutes draw near for the crucial World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and South Africa here at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Leicester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, has assured Nigerians that the Super Eagles have enough gas and energy to stop Bafana Bafana and other teams for a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals taking place in USA, Canada and Mexico, Completesports.com reports.
“We’re not just prepared but as well motivated to win, not just this game against South Africa but other games in the series,” starts Iheanacho while responding to a question on Super Eagles preparation for the big showdown.
“The AFCON has come and gone. We’ve put everything about it behind. The World Cup ticket is what’s uppermost in our minds and we’re determined to face it squarely.
“We cannot afford to sit back and watch the next World Cup from the TV sets. No, we have to be there representing our country and the continent of Africa.
“To achieve this, we have to win our games, not only against South Africa but also against the other teams in the qualifiers.”
At the time of this report, Super Eagles are fourth in Group C standings of the World Cup qualifiers with Republic of Rwanda in the driving seat despite Thursday’s 1-0 loss to Benin Republic.
The Nigeria/South Africa Match gets underway at 8pm, local time.

There’s something very unsettling about all this Iheanacho Iheanacho in all news concerning the team recently o!
I really don’t like the vibes I’m getting from this Finidi guy – If we remember that he played Iheanacho as one of our main strikers in the shameful line up and loss against Mali, and I have seen one or two interviews on YouTube where he has fronted questions with Iheanacho and Ndidi, (both Lester boys) a championship club (recently promoted yes, but their level is the lowest you can have in that league) –
If this guy is thinking what I think he is thinking then there will be big surutu ahead o! Iheanacho is NOT anywhere near good enough to be starting in any capacity in that team, let alone be playing him as one of the main strikers front the start?? If we remember, he did not even sub him off that last useless showing against Mali – There better be nothing fishy going on o! Because it is either the guy (Finidi) is completely blind and inept to believe that Iheanacho is that level where he can shoulder the hopes of Nigerians and succeed, which means he must be walking “blind” because anyone who has followed his club career or seen him play the last time ever he got a chance to play should know that Nacho is shot and can/no MUST only be utilised from the bench and only when he cannot jeopardise what we have ni – also and even more alarming, he himself (Finidi) should have seen from the last game he used Nacho in that Nacho is not the solution for the SE’s, so unless he wants to sabotage the team and cause pain to millions of Nigerians, he must not even try to play Nacho from the start – If non of the above apply then it can only be that he Nacho has the guy Finidi in his pocket either through backhand brown envelope aka egunje or Finidi is somehow living in the ancient past and still in awe of Iheanacho – Iheanacho is no longer that player he was in his much much younger years o, plus the way his stomach is now self na wahala, the thing weighs him down wella and he can no longer run, plus even in his younger days, he was never a hard worker and adds zero defensive input even though he only dares to do that when playing for 9ja and dares not try that at his Lester because he knows his place, but somehow when it is time to rep 9ja he will be forming senior man! Mtcheew!
Finidi, shine your eyes and open your glassed and read what I am writing here wella! It is for your own good! Only play hard working, hard running players who are also ready to defend regardless of where they play on the pitch! – Let a word be enough for the wise – Open your eyes and hear well, it is mostly for your own good!
Na Ndidi kuku talk am say the team matter – na soulja go, soulja come!
Wishing only the best to Nigeria and so by extension to Finidi too because if Finidi, wakes up and do well then Nigeria will be happy because the SE’s will also be doing well!
Oya let’s go!
UP SE’s, Up Nigeria!!
