Former Nigerian international, Joseph Dosu has revealed that Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro should be held responsible if Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
He made this known on the backdrop of the team’s 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in today’s qualifier at the Huye Stadium, Butare.
Recall that Walter Musona gave the hosts the lead in the 26th minute. The Sekhukhune United forward’s free kick from outside the box sailed into net.
Substitute Iheanacho equalised for the Super Eagles 25 minutes from time. The Super Eagles have now amassed two points from two games.

Reacting to the result, the Atlanta Olympic gold medalist in a chat with Completesports.com, stated that Peseiro should be blamed if Nigeria failed to qualify.
He also questioned the Portuguese tactician’s inability to recognize former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama in the national team.
“I really don’t know what to say again because from the beginning Nigerians came out to say a lot of things with the way the Super Eagles have been playing and the Hose Peseiro say we are putting pressure on the team. And that we should not put pressure so that the team will play very well.
“So we have decided not to put pressure and we are still seeing the same thing. So whatever the Federation and the coaches want to do with our national teams they should keep on doing it. If we qualify fine and if we don’t qualify there is nothing anybody can do.
“We can’t hold anybody responsible except the head and the coach, Peseiro. This same coach was asked by the journalist that don’t you think we are having a goalkeeping problem by bringing in Vincent Enyeama. He was asking the journalist that who is Vincent Enyeama. How can you say who is Vincent Enyeama? This is a guy that has kept for the Super Eagles for almost 16 years. A goalkeeper that kept for a club in France and everywhere. He’s almost the best in Africa And he’s saying who is Vincent Enyeama. I think this goes a long way. Like I said, wish them what they want to do with the national team. Goodluck to them.”

Wahala! So Like play like play another world cup wan elude us like this o
Sope otilo! Lol
The coach should be sacked! He doesn’t have what it takes to coach the Super Eagles. Super Eagles is a big team. I was surprised when the Nigerian federation hired him.
Donald from Portugal.
My consolation has been that even if we qualify, is it not just three boring matches they will play at the world cup and be eliminated?
It’s too early to give up though
Hold the Coach responsible? He will simply pack his bag and go. Sack him now. The guy has nothing to offer. There is no guarantee that the NFF will get it right. Sad times for Nigerian football. We could still get back on track if the right coach is picked by the NFF. Obviously they do not have the funds to go for the so called world class coaches. Go for a tested Nigerian coach and give him the necessary support. The time to do that is now otherwise it will be over quickly for the super Eagles.
Nigeria is a dirty country, everyone does his thing and mess up the country and no body takes responsibility!!.. We have old grannies as President of the country, knows nothing about football and ask no questions otherwise all the NFF members must be told to resign if Nigeria does not qualify, as well as sacking of the coach now to create an opportunity for a more liability and quality coach for the Super Eagles!!.. unfortunately no body cares from the leadership!!
Sports Minister clueless about football, NFF chairman clueless about Football. Guys remove ur mines from SE for now till God bless Nigeria with a president that will us a Sports Minister with zeal, passion and the midas touch to turn SE fortunes around. Remove ur mind and move on. Already sports Minister does not see the need to pay so that the matches can be televised. So why worry.
Pseiro’s head is on the chopping block We’re howling for a home-based manager who will ask for bribes from players to get selected. Nigerians have short memories.
what, how much of the bribe were you given. People will just come here and be spilling nonsense. Please save your data if you have nothing to say. So how are you sure peserio is not taking bribe, Abi can take a huge pay cut from your job without people thinking whats the catch.
This team should be disolved and look for new players and good coaches to handle them. With these players and coaches Nigeria is in a real problem
YOU DONT NEED TO GUARDIOLA TO SEE THAT THE WEAKNESS OF THAT TEAM IS GOALKEEPING AND MIDFIELD.
SCRAP THE PLAYERS IN THIS DEPARTMENT PLUS THE COACH FOR NOT BEEN ABLE TO RECTIFY IT.
THE COACH WILL NOT GO AND PLAY ON THE FIELD
GERNOT ROHR WAS FAR BETTER THAN THIS COACH. THEY HARDLY SCORE GOAL SINCE HE TOOK OVER AND ALSO CONCEDE GOALS ALWAYS. SACK THIS COACH NOW
“2026 WCQ: Hold Peseiro Responsible If Super Eagles Fail To Qualify –Dosu”
You are fighting the wrong person, Dosu.
Nigerians are very smart people. We can never hold Paseiro responsible if Super Eagles failed to qualify for the World Cup.
But we would hold Amaju Pinnick responsible for the mess Eagles is facing because Amaju was the one that hired Oga Paseiro, but on what criteria?
This is why I said EFCC should get Amaju Pinnick arrested. He has to come out to defend himself about why he destroy our football.
We can still make it to the World Cup if NFF listens to us on this forum.
NFF are make mockery of themselves, not us. We are smarter than you all NFF. All eyes on you, NFF. Do the needful before it is too late. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
@omo9ja I was thinking you’ll say we should hold rohr responsible. So you can’t blame him now again? Has the football improved since he left for close to 2 years? No. When he faced former champions Zambia,Cameron and Algeria and qualified with games to spare, you said that was nothing special. I’m sure getting a draw against lesotho and Zimbabwe is special. Just so you know,we had to come from behind against these 2 weak teams. We were never in front. I can’t hear you calling for Nwakali, olisa ndah, olayinka, sadiq umar, emmanuel Dennis and all those players you said will make us great. Why aren’t you rooting for them anymore?
Only positive was cap tieing tella.
@Justin, be very honest, if the super were to be your company, would you hire a Paserio as the MD?
