Former Nigerian international, Dosu Joseph believes Super Eagles forward, Victor Boniface can deliver the goals for the Nigeria in the absence of Victor Osimhen ahead of the team’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho this month.
Recall that Osimhen was excluded from the team due to injury and he’s expected to miss the two games Nigeria will play against Lesotho and Zimbabwe respectively.
In a chat with Completesports.com, the Atlanta Olympic gold medalist said that Boniface has what it takes to fill into the shoes of Osimhen in the senior national team.
“I think everybody is looking for opportunities and we all know Osimhen as a goal poacher for country and his club. However, at this moment, we all know that he’s nursing an injury , if not he will surely be in the team.

“I think the players that have been invited will surely do better. But most importantly is for Nigeria to win.
“Those that will be played in place of Osimhen will put in their best and have their own opportunity once it comes.
“The two players are young players and they play for their clubs week in and week out and they take in their opportunities when the chances comes.
“I believe Boniface can do it when the chances comes but then, we hope and pray he puts in the ball into the net when the ball arrives.”

Boniface must not be solely relied for goals because I see him as a false9, I will rather he be complimented with Either of Awoniyi, Iheanacho or Moffi in the absence of Osigoal. I have my reasons for saying this because he mostly creates chances and not the killer type like Osigoal.
