Benin Republic will be without Bulgaria-based defender Olivier Verdon for their Group C 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Rwanda due to injury.
In a statement on the X handle of Benin Football, sustained the injury while playing for Ludogorets.
The 28-year-old France-born player was expected to join his teammates in Cote d’Ivoire last Sunday ahead of the double header against Rwanda and Nigeria.
Unfortunately, he failed to recover in time for the games as Benin Republic target their first win in the qualifying series.

Verdon made his debut for the Benin national on 24 March 2017, and has made 34 appearances.
Benin will host Group C leaders Rwanda in Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday, 6th June, 2024.
Then, on Monday, 10 June, they will host Nigeria also in Côte d’Ivoire for their matchday four fixture.
Benin Republic currently occupy bottom place on one point in the six-team table.
