Bafana Bafana head coach, Hugo Broos is upbeat his side can secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
South Africa currently occupy second position in Group C with three points.
The former African champions will be away to Nigeria in a matchday three fixture at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo next week Friday.
Broos’ side will then welcome the Warriors of Zimbabwe to the Free State Stadium, Blomfeintein on Tuesday, June 11.

The Belgian reckoned qualifying ahead of Nigeria will be a difficult task but insisted it is achievable.
“We’ve had much progress in the last two years, and the results are there, now we want more. When you’re a sportsman, you want more. So we want to go to the World Cup,” Broos told SABC.
“It will not be easy, because when you look at the group, it’s maybe not a strong group, but it’s a tricky group because we have Zimbabwe, Lesotho, all the countries around South Africa.
“So, it will be not easy, and certainly with Nigeria too. But I think we have confidence and we believe in ourselves because of the performances of the AFCON. We will see in the next one year where we stand, but the mission is to go to the World Cup certainly.”

Talk is cheap, and we know South Africans can talk. It’s the doing that they always fall short, whether male or female football.
Thank you so much, you are very right. It is very annoying to hear them sound off like brass. We’ll see.
My village can defeat south Africa convincingly, what an insult to Nigeria, players of locally based south Africa is insulting Nigeria
Hahahhaa……let enugu rangers or enyimba defeat mamelodi sundowns first….then we will belive you…LMAOoo
These people have started again. Eni t’oma luyinpa lenwa.
I base here in SA dont mind them they think is rugby in all Africa Nigeria worship football as God all Nigerian were coaches and this match comes wrong time where a lot of things behind (egos local coach equalize goal is rubbing etc) they will new nigeria team ready to die on the field i know they are coming for draw but Nigerian will score many goals
Don’t mind them. Awon eran’ya.
Forgive him. He is afflicted with an incurable strain of verbal diarrhoea. Only a blazing knock by the SE Will rouse from this mental fog.
Enu dun ro fo! Easy for sweet talk!
Nigeria 3 South Africa 0
The man knows what’s talking about, Broos knows talents alone can’t win matches, he knows Nigeria lacks organization skills, plus we don’t ve any coach. I don’t see Slim shady outfoxing Broos in Uyo. Without Simon, Aina, Ekong,Osi and the Tank u guys needs serious luck in Uyo.
You guys are comedians, going by latest development they have upper hand over Nigeria. This is Finidi first major match as super eagles coach with many first timers and unexposed and inexperienced players. Secondly, I can sense over confidence in Finidi, that’s why he will not put experience in consideration in his invitation which is as a result of being an inexperience coach.
I see SE hoping for draw after going one goal behind.
Then our biggest mistake is boasting and making mouth when we’re supposed to humble ourselves. And I know the nature of this people boasting we’re going to win this match, they will be the first to start calling for the head of the coach. Rasing your expectations base on no fact, funny fans.
The only thing Coach finidi can do to stand the chance of winning is to decide if he should mark high up or on the low, bcos if he should mark the usual way with players marking from their normal position, there may be trouble
Really Nigeria is not supposed to talk back at ordinary South Africa. Yes we are not mates.
They only take noise and nothing more. The problem is not about South Africa but Nigeria and our new coach and the nff injustice and corruption.
But I know the boys will fight it out to get a win next Friday. I think white South African needs help. We should teach him a bitter lesson tomorrow.
But this one that we are flooding our team home based players who were not able to prove themselves at club level on the continent.
I hope finidi is not digging his own grave of failure. I hope so.
Na NFF cause all this see finish.
