Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has described the action of the Libyan authorities to hold the players hostages for several hours at the Al-Abraq Airport as very embarrassing.
Recall that the Super Eagles are due to play hosts Libya in the city of Benghazi, where they hoped to seal a qualification berth for the finals in Morocco late next year.
But after being stranded for more than 16 hours at an airport 250 km (155 miles) away from their intended destination, the Nigerian players said they would not fulfill the fixture.

Reacting to the development via his official Instagram handle, Ndidi stated that this is not football being displayed by Libya.
“This is not football. Very embarrassing. Hostage to a national team. Disgrace.”
The Leicester City star was part of the Nigerian side that beat Libya 1-0 on Friday thanks to Fissayo Dele-Bashiru’s strike.

They MUST not play that match is number 1!
NFF and Nigerian Government must kick up the most amount of dust about this nasty and shameful behaviour is number 2!
I used to think that Libyan’s were human beings – only because of the late great Muammar Ghadaffi but now I know I was wrong – He was and is (although now dead) the only decent libyan the world has ever seen!
Now I know that those stories of how they treated the poor and unfortunate Nigerians and other foreigners in their damned country were not exaggerated – Those people are common animals!
Now I hate every bastard libyan and believe me, they MUST and WILL hear from us Nigerians from now on!
Personally, I better NEVER meet any blasted libyans because they won’t be safe around me!
Absolute animals!
NFF and Nigerian Govt, it’s over to you! You must not let this act of cowardice go unpunished!
If you are a Nigerian in that hell hole called libya, you had better leave immediately because the brown stuff is about to hit the fan!
Finally – CAF and FIFA the ball is now firmly in your court! – These animals better not get away with this treachery and must be made to pay a high price!
From now on – I dare any **** libyan to try and come to Nigeria and let’s see how long that POS will last!
