Ghanaian fans invaded the pitch of the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi to express their anger after the Black Stars lost 1-0 to Angola in their opening Group F game of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers on Thursday.
Felicio Milson emerged as the hero for Angola, as he bagged a dramatic 93rd-minute goal to secure the win for Angola.
Milson tapped the ball into an empty net after Abdul Mumin failed to properly clear a low cross from the right.
It was the first time the Black Stars would lose in the Kumasi stadium in 24 years.
The last time they lost on the ground was in the AFCON 2000 quarter-final clash against South Africa who triumphed 1-0.
Following the disappointing loss to the Angolans, angry fans ran on to the pitch throwing bottles and other items.
Players from both the Black Stars and Angola had already left before the ugly incident started.
Coach Otto Addo and his players would hope to bounce back from the disappointing home loss when they will be guests to Niger on Monday, September 9th.

When big teams refuse to be committed and allow small teams to embarrass them, the usual excuse is that there are no more minnows in football. But that is a fallacy. The challenge with some African big teams like Ghana and Nigeria is that the players get big-headed and do not give their all anymore to the national team, preferring to spill blood for their clubs instead because that is where the money lies. Their ego and ‘bigmanlity’ makes them complacent. they do all to avoid injury in the national team, and the result is that they struggle against much smaller teams. Can Angola beat England, Belgium or Portugal any day? NO. Because shoe get size
Your situation is not unsalvageable,so your fans should be calm and sanguine.
I am not a fan of Ghana but i know they got pedigree especially in African football. So i trust they’ll grab the points required to qualify for the Afcon.
They have always done.
Thumbs up brotherman Greenie. With Niger in their group, Ghana should qualify with games to spare. Heaven bless Ghana and all deserving Super Eagles rivals. Lolzzzz
