Angola netted a late strike to secure a shock 1-0 win against Black Stars of Ghana in their first game in Group F of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Kumasi on Thursday.
The defeat was a big blow to Ghana’s long-standing dominance at the Baba Yara Stadium, ending the Black Stars’ 24-year unbeaten home record there.
Felicio Milson emerged as the hero for Angola, scoring a dramatic 93rd-minute goal that not only secured the win but also shocked the home crowd.
Despite Ghana controlling much of the game, Milson’s late strike from close range after Ghanaian defender Abdul Mumin cleared the ball into his path sealed the upset.
The other two teams that make up Group F alongside Ghana and Angola are Niger Republic and Sudan.
In their own opening fixture, Sudan also secured a 1-0 home win against Niger Republic.
Coach Otto Addo and his players would hope to bounce back from the disappointing home loss when they will be guests to Niger on Monday, September 9th.

It is not a shock. Nigeria’s only win in the last 5 matches was against Ghana. So it is not a big deal. We should think of how to prevent a repeat of Benin Republic defeat because with these set of Eagles that stroll into camp when they didn’t even feature in the last weekend club matches, any ominous result is possible.
5 matches. One win. And we expect a sudden turnaround with roughly the same set of players?
NFF are looking for who they will kill with hypertension.
See as Nigerians are shaking with fear because of Benin and Rwanda, all because NFF won’t do the needful.
Under a competent NFF, these are matches we should be winning comfortably.
Lol. When last was NFF competent? Even coach selection is riddled with incompetence. My grouse is that even if eagles flunk their games, glasshouse tenure is secure for 4 years when the body should be biting the dust.
It’s a real SHECK to the system. The BLACK STEHS have been dimmed on their own turf.
The CSN Ghana contingent are nowhere to be found! Where unu dey? Come out, come out, wherever you are!
This defeat must be very painful for dem. Pipo dey vex!
But if Nigeria loses to Benin this weekend, all of dem go land for here. Yes, they will all be here to celebrate and mock. Hehehehe!
Self made and co, please accept my deepest sympathy. Ha ha ha.
