Deborah Abiodun was named Player of the Match as Super Falcons thrashed Cape Verde 5-0 in Thursday’s 2024 WAFCON playoff qualifier in Abuja.
The Super Falcons X handle announced Abiodun as the Player of the Match.
It was a first return to the Falcons for the 20-year-old, since she was sent off at the 2023 FIFA women’s World Cup against Canada.
Despite being away from the team, Abiodun was the most astounding player on the pitch.

Hiya
This girl sabi play ball ooo.
Keep it up.
I watched the match live at the MKO stadium in Abuja. She was a marvel to watch and she is a future Super Falcon captain in the making.Sad that the red card at the world cup did not allow the world to see how full abilities beyound the first match.
Deployed as a deep laying defensive midfielder, she was everything we lacked in the super eagles midfield. She shielded her defence excellently, assured in possession, skilful and orchestrated play from deep.Strong on the ball.Yes it was Cape Verde, but she already shown her abilities against Canada and she is only 20.This is her real age because I met her mum and younger siblings in the stadium.
I encourage her to move to Europe on the completion of her studies in America
