British tennis player Emma Raducanu attributed her loss to American Sofia Kenin, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, in the First Round of the ongoing 2024 US Open to a lack of enough matches leading up to the tournament.
The former US Open champion, who stunned the world by winning the title in 2021 as a teenager, has struggled to maintain that level of success.

She lost in the First Round during her 2022 title defense and missed the 2023 edition of the tournament due to injury.
Raducanu, as reported by ESPN, expressed dissatisfaction with her performance, stating that she would learn from this experience.
“I would have probably preferred to play a little bit more,” Raducanu said. “When I have a lot of matches, just like every player, you feel really good, you feel like everything’s automatic. So yeah, I think I can learn from it.”
After a disappointing first set, Raducanu raised her level in the second, securing a crucial break in the fifth game and closing out the set with a forehand winner.
However, she was unable to sustain her momentum in the deciding set, losing her serve with a double fault in the fifth game, which allowed Kenin to secure victory with a hold to love in the final game.
Despite the victory, Kenin acknowledged the challenge of facing a former champion.
