Isau Ogunkunle has continued his impressive run at the Paris 2024 Paralympic after securing qualification into the semi-finals of men’s Singles Class 4 para-Table Tennis.
Ogunkunle defeated the home favourite, Maxime Thomas (a triple Paralympic bronze medalist), recovering from a set down to win 3-1 (9-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-6).
This is the second match Ogunkunle is emerging tops against a top seeded player.
Before coming to Paris, the farthest Ogunkunle had gone at the Paralympic Games is the quarterfinals (Tokyo 2021).
Now he will be playing his first ever semi-final match at the Paralympics.
Meanwhile, Hannah Babalola featured in heat 1 of women’s 100m T54, finishing 6th in the race.
Babalola did not start very quickly enough, and played catch-up from when the gun went off, crossing the line in a time of 17.39s (-0.3).
The race was won by USA’s Tatyana McFadden with a new Paralympic Record of 15.55s
