Team Nigeria’s Eniola Bolaji will have to battle for bronze after losing in the semi-finals of the women’s singles SL3 in para-badminton at the ongoing Paris Paralympic games.
Despite putting up a strong fight Bolaji lost to China’s Zuxian Xiao 2-0 (16-21, 17-21) to miss out on a chance to compete for a gold medal.
She will return to the court on Monday, when she will face Ukraine’s Oksana Kozyna in the bronze medal match.
In the women’s Singles para-table tennis Class 10, Nigeria’s Faith Obazuaye lost her round of 16 match to Chinese Taipei’s Wen Shiau Tian, who won the match in a straight set.
Tian secured a 3-0 (11- 4, 11- 8 , 11 – 3) victory to progress to the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, it was two defeats for Nigeria in the men’s singles para-table tennis.
Olufemi Alabi suffered a defeat in the round of 16 men’s singles Class 10, losing by straight sets to China’s Hao Lian, who won the match 3-0 (11-6, 11-6, 11-7).
In Class 8, Croatia’s Borna Zohil got the better of Victor Farinloye, also winning by straight sets, 3-0 (11-7, 11-7, 11-7)
