Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has hailed Nigeria’s Super Falcons despite their ouster from the 2023 FIFA women’s World Cup.
The Falcons lost 4-2 on penalties after holding the European champions to a 0-0 in regulation time.
Star player Lauren James was sent off in the 87th minute for standing on Michelle Alozie but the Falcons failed to capitalise on the numerical advantage.
In the shootout, substitute Desire Oparanozie and Alozie missed their kicks while England converted four of their five attempts.
Commenting after the defeat, Peseiro urged the Falcons players not to relent.
The Portuguese coach wrote on Twitter:“What an extraordinary World Cup, you showed the world that Nigeria is here!
“Keep your chins up, Super Falcons… You did your country proud.
“Congratulations and keep up the good work!”
The Falcons have now lost in two meetings against England at the FIFA women’s World Cup.
In their first encounter in the group stage of the 1995 edition in Sweden, England won 3-2.

see yeye coach they talk,na so we want our eagles to dey play like super falcon stop bringing many attacking strikers and attacking midfield to eagles use your sense.
I BELIEVE PASEIRO HAVE LEARN THE ISSUE OF TAKING EXPERIENCE/AGED PLAYERS TO A COMPETITION WITHOUT FIT/FORM IS MEANINGLESS.
*** DROP ALL THE EXPERIENCE/AGED PLAYERS WITHOUT IN TOP FORM & FIT FOR NEXT AFCON. TAKING THEM TO TOURNAMENT IS BLOCKING THE CHANCE OF OTHERS PLAYERS THAT ARE READY TO SHINE. WE HAVE MORE THAN SURPLUS THIS TIME AROUND AT YOUR DISPOSAL
PESERO HOPE you’re getting SET to be SCHOOLED by GENERAL ROAR in the WCQ GAME against his TEAM the CHEETAHS of BENIN REPUBLIC????
I hope Peseiro is not thinking about drafting Nnadozie to the SE? LOOOOL!
Although if e dey think am, I no blame am!
@POMPEI on a SERIOUS NOTE how I WISH FIFA can AMEND their LAWS so that some of this GIRLS can SWITCH and join the BOYS TEAM…
Like my PLUMPTRE coming to REPLACE VAN BASSEY….
LMFAO…
See that left shot that hit the bar from long range ..chi .. for 3 mins English team didn’t know wat hit them .from left to right to centre of the 18 yard . Even super eagles never did that to any team since 2006 .
Lol. Looking at my GIRL @PLUMPTRE @SPORTRADIO88.0FM one would think she is not STRONG but I tell you SHE is very STRONG…
PLUMPTRE was superb, sensational, aspirational, exceptional and above all, one of the best women players in the world today. She should be made the CAPTAIN of the team from now on. An English friend called to tell me that if England had such a player on their side at the moment, England would win this world-cup. I could not agree more.
Thank you so much @EDOMAN for such ENCOMIUM on my WOMAN @PLUMPTRE
Hahaha, Edoman, nice one. I’m sure an inquiry is going on as we speak.
Not that we are complaining! England’s loss is Nigeria’s gain!
Awesome Nigerian Heroines, gallantry is the key word , we love you pretty sisters
