Super Falcons of Nigeria group foes at next year’s women’s World Cup Australia and Canada had a mix results in their respective friendly games on Tuesday, Completesports.com reports.
While Australia, one of the hosts of the World Cup, defeated Thailand 2-0, Canada suffered a 2-1 loss to Brazil.
The Falcons will open their campaign at the World Cup against Olympic women’s champions Canada in July 21.
And on July 27 they will take on Australia before ending their group stage fixtures against debutant Republic of Ireland.

Australia have now won their last four games while for Canada the defeat to Brazil ended a run of five consecutive wins.
Last month the Falcons lost 2-0 to 2011 women’s World Cup champions Japan in an international friendly.
The result against Japan means the nine-time African champions have now lost their last five games.

I watched Ucheibe play as central back for her team in champions league match and it was a superlative performance. This means she could place as right back too. By now the Nigeria Super Falcons coach should know her starting eleven.I know we will do well all things being equal but there has to be a serious effort getting the players together on time. Our girls are doing well with their various clubs.Lets pray the remain injury free.We played all our friendlies away at the host countries venues. That is a plus for us when the chips are down.
I think we need a new coach who understands these girls and their individual abilities.
You’re busy reporting these friendlies, but no one is putting pressure on the NFF as to why the Super Falcons were not involved in any friendlies during this window. Zambia and Morocco were both involved (though it was a second string Morocco as majority of their main players were involved in ASFAR’s CAFWCL victory on Sunday). I doubt that the NFF President has called Coach Waldrum to ask him about his World Cup program and how to go about it. But instead, I believe that he’s about to join the bandwagon of Nigerian fans who want the coach fired without looking at the bigger picture. This was why I wanted Amaju Pinnick to continue as NFF Chairman because even though Pinnick made many mistakes, he was the one who helped organize all the friendlies the Super Falcons played this year and he definitely would have gotten them engaged in this November FIFA window. The fact that they lost their last 4 games this year doesn’t mean that it would be like that when the tournament kicks off in July, and then they would have the full complement of their players. But Gusau couldn’t even organize one game for the girls, but prefers to travel on government funds in order to offer ‘moral support’. I hope I’m proved wrong, but something tells me that Ibrahim Gusau will be far much worse than Pinnick as NFF President.
The event is still 8 moths away, why the fuss, Abeg free the coach and the NFF. It’s not like the world cup is 2 months away and the coach hasn’t started planning. Is it now you want to know ho is ready to play at the world cup.
