The Nigerian female football team have departed Softiel Hotel where they were during the group games at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
The Randy Waldrum led side have now lodged in Marriott Hotel in Brisbane ahead of their crucial round of 16 encounter with the Three Lionesses of England.
The second round cracker between the Super Falcons and the Three Lionesses of England will take place on Monday, August 7 at Lang Park in Brisbane.
The Super Falcons revealed the news on their official Twitter handle.
“Goodbye Softiel! Our splendid stay came to an end at Softiel Hotel as we moved into our new residence, Marriott Hotel in Brisbane for our crucial #FIFAWWC last 16 tie with Eng,” the Tweet reads
England qualified for the round of 16 after coming first in Group D with nine points after three games. Nigeria qualified as the second placed team in Group B with five points from the three group games.
The Super Falcons best ever result was the USA 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup where they reached the quarter-final stage. They were defeated 4-3 by Brazil in the quarter-final at the Jack Kent Cooke Stadium in Landover.
The Super Falcons have qualified for every edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup since its inaugural tournament in China 1991.

This NFF sucks…. Hear what Demola Olajire said about Randy Waldrum amid his previous clash with the Nigeria Football Federation.
In the past, Randy Waldrum engaged the Nigerian football governing body in a no-holds-barred verbal battle about his unpaid salaries.
However, it was believed that Nigeria’s prospects of performing well at the 2023 World Cup would be harmed by the leadership squabble.
The coach expressed his dissatisfaction with the NFF’s lack of assistance in helping his squad get ready for the competition.
Waldrum had stated that the Falcons are not as prepared as they should be for the World Cup, and that admission, along with his unpaid wages, infuriated the NFF glass house. Ademola Olajire , the spokesperson for the NFF, reacted sharply to Waldrum’s comments on his demands.
“Incompetent loudmouth. Now he’s found his voice since he’s about to achieve his only ambition of leading a team at the Women’s World Cup,
“Everyone knows FIFA pays preparation money for every team participating in the Women’s World Cup. The team has traveled to Japan and Turkey to play matches.
“Currently, they are in a 15-day training camp on the Gold Coast in preparation for the World Cup. Has Mr. Blabbermouth Waldrum been paying for all of this? He claims he is in the job because of the players. That’s nonsense.” Olajire said.
This is really sad to hear from an NFF official. Very insensitive….No accountability at all….
Oh, na now you see why I dey write “loudmouth Waldrum” since. Na NFF lexicon. The tiff for me is the spokesman used to be a fine sports writer that year with lots of ideas to move “football” forward but he lost the flare when he became mouthpiece of NFF during Pinnicks tenure. I still insist falcons barred them or ignored them in their camp so they praise the team but with angst in their hearts.
Anyway, thank you Super Falcons for letting Africa believe they could win at least a match in this world cup. You showed your vulnerability at WAFCON 2022 by letting the other African representatives beat you, a feat they would have thought impossible in African women soccer.
RSA beat you in the group stage.
Morocco managed to edge you on penalties enroute to the final.
Zambia got their first WAFCON medal against you in the third place playoff.
You kick started this African belief movement. You are the turning point.
