Super Falcons striker, Desire Oparanozie has been given the green light to face England in the round of 16 of the ongoing 2023 Women’s World Cup.
This was confirmed by the Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum on Friday.
Recall that Oparanozie missed all the group matches the Super Falcons played against Canada, Australia and Republic of Ireland due to injury.
However, Waldrum has declared Oparanozie fit to face England in round of 16 on Monday.
“She (Oparanozie )is fit now and should play some part against England,” the coach disclosed.
Oparanozie will be another option to lead the Falcons attack after Asisat Oshoala and Ifeoma Onumonu have manned this position at the World Cup.

Very good!
The Nigeria attack with its speed and strength will be too much for England to handle. All the SF need do is believe
Thank you, God, for this news. Oparanozie is the missing link in this team, and I am very excited today that she’s fully fit at the right time.
We needed Oparanozie against England, most especially in the first half.
The combinations of Oparanozie and Gift Monday will be too much for the English team to handle on Monday.
Coach Waldrum should please listen and listen before the match and ring changes to his team.
This is nockout stage and any mistake, you go home. Use your best strikers and let them start the match against England, period.
Oshoala and Onumonu should start in the second half of the match lobatan. Good luck to Super Falcons. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
Na you be the best coach in the world oga Omo9ja! She can be fit but definitely not match fit. She never play since the tournament started and boom straight into starting eleven for a knockout match. Oga I bow for your coaching sense o!!!
Every Nigerian is a self-appointed coach. They tend to disparage the real national coach if their self-appointed player is not included in the team. It doesn’t matter if their so-called favorite player is nursing injury or not. Give me a break. Oga Rohr was a victim of their Vernon in the not-distant past. These self-appointed coaches were, unfortunately, responsible why Nigeria Flag were never hosted in the last World cup. They are always at it to undermine the whole National Teams. Shame on you.
Na waoh for some fans here O! How do you start a player just coming out from injury. That idea make sense at all. Well, for all our ranting here, coach Waldrum already gave the answer that Oparanozie would play a bit of the match which means she’s definitely not a starter.
For me, bring her in the last 20 minutes of the match to use her strength on the English defence that I am sure by then would be tired out.
Oparanozie does not have speed, she is a good link up player, can hold the ball and wait for others to join the attack, also a good header of the ball during dead ball situations like corner kicks and free kicks, the only fast player we have in attack is Oshoala, I know the coach knows how to tickle with the players available, I wish the super falcons the best, do not fear the English Girls, fight and fight till the end.
