Dominic Stricker of Switzerland has qualified for the third round of the 2023 US Open after edging Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas.
In Wednesday’s pulsating second round five-set thriller, Stricker won three sets to two to book his place into the next round.
The first set saw Stricker win 7-5 but Tsitsipas stormed back to take the second and third sets 7-6, 7-6.
Stricker rallied back to win the fourth set 7-6 before wrapping the game up by also winning the fifth set 6-3.
Also on Wednesday, 2022 US Open Champion Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz has a walkover against Dominik Keopfer.
Also, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic made light work of Zapata Miralles of Spain in three straight sets.
