Flying Eagles head coach Ladan Bosso has said the team can go all the way at the ongoing 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
Bosso also stated that his team want to win the trophy for Nigeria’s new president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Flying Eagles made it to the quarter-final of the competition after a 2-0 win against Argentina on Wednesday night.
“I dedicate this victory to our new President,” Bosso said after the game.

“We will be the first team to give him his first trophy.”
Bosso also reflected on the victory against the hosts and hinted that his team will remain humble despite the win against the six-time champions.
“I said it in Abuja that the tougher the start, the easier the end for us,” he added.
“We have faced difficult teams like Brazil, Italy and now the host nation.
“We will remain humble and focused, so that it will be easy for us.”

I know it’s not easy facing these 3 best countries in world football. Argentina, Brazil and Italy. But please uncle Bosso, remain humble.
Thanks
Nigerians are obsessed with giving advise even when it’s not needed.I guess you read the last line of his quotes “We will remain humble and focused,so that it will be easy for us” Bosso.
That’s the spirit.
God bless Nigeria
Tinubu is not my president….BTW am not an Igbo
That makes you a Cameroonian then bro, as of today and the next 4 years Tinubu is the President and C in C of the Federal Republic of NIGERIA. If you no like it, Japa to Cameroon or Ghana
He is not my president and I have the freedom of acceptance as a free man….He can impose himself on aso rock and steal mandate or even run away with it but he can not steal my conscience and freedom……#tinubuisnotmypresident
Who is forcing Tinubu on you? That’s your own problem if he’s not your president, but he’s the president of Nigeria as of today. You don’t have the power to change that. You’ve done your part at the polls and the rest his history.
God bless you Dr..O never saw eye to eye with you during the GERNOT RHOR debacle but on this, I am 100% with you!
Haters of PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU GCFR can either RELOCATE or COMMIT SUICIDE or LIVE WITH THE REALITY for as long as GOD permits TINUBU to live and Preside over NIGERIA
It is because of situations that i feel so Privileged to be well traveled and have lost this Nigerian Mentality, dictatorship insubordinate mentality that is all so prevalent in that country! Mtcheew!!.. Imagine wanting to win a trophy for a man that cannot even Keep his open in a GE Summit or Presidential Summits and not for 200 million souls, really it says alot this mans Bosso’s mentality. and this is why Nigeria will not get things right. Let Bola be your only fan then Mugu!
Nothing wrong with him dedicating his teams success to BAT because BAT represents Nigeria so it’s a dedication for the country.
Meanwhile,we shouldn’t hate BAT i know it hurts when someone interfere with the process of an election by fraudaulently depressing the vote share of a rival candidate,it’s absolutely irksome and condemnable.
In spite of this i don’t dislike him as a person, however,i wish he won fairly, though the case is still in court while that’s on going we should support him and remember him in our prayers because right now he’s the president we have until the court rules.
BAT doesn’t represent me. You people should not add everyone to your political beliefs.
Who cares who he represents or who he doesn’t?
Who knows you please???
This is FOOTBALL forum. Let’s keep it that way..if you guys want POLITICAL TOXIC BANTERS….you don’t have monopoly of that..Get that into your head bro!
I remember FOOTBALL WISE, we have always been on the same wavelength with @UGO IWUNZE too, but don’t try to INSULT or DISRESPECT other MILLIONS of NIGERIANS like ME who cast our VOTES for PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU GCFR!
Until the COURTS decide otherwise, like @GREENTURF Succinctly captured BAT is the EXECUTIVE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA whether you LIKE HIM OR NOT!
You are mad!!!
@GREENTURF any EVIDENCE to back up your CLAIMS that the ELECTION was RIG in FAVOR of BAT?
With this statement, you are lobbying to be recognized for a higher position in the future. It is the collective mediocre consciousness of some Nigeria that has brought Someone like Tinubu in the helm of affairs in Nigeria. Very deplorable
You are MAD
To quote you SOMEONE LIKE TINUBU
Please mention any member of your generation in his level and achievements in life?
Shuab you are the mad person ranting here because of the grandpa BAT who should be retired by now instead of vying for a position he doesn’t qualify for.
@Chima E Samuel, let me tell you for free that you are a deluded psychopath and you surely need mental health facilities attention before its to late. PBAT is your President for the next 4 or 8 years, if you are not happy with that go and burn your Nigerian passport.
Stop your mad rantings on this forum right now and seek help
You are that irresponsible degenerate nincompoop that DR DREY always calls you!
How dare you?
Imagine this school drop out street hawker in backwater TAKORADI
Go and drown in EZZU RIVER for all I care, TINUBU is your PRESIDENT!
You TRIBAL hedonist!
Win trophy for Tinubu,is Tinubu Nigeria. What about the people that make up Nigeria.
Hes NO 1 CITIZEN of NIGERIA
Who knows you????
Elections are over
Get over your collective amnesia and delusions of grandeur….another SHERIFF IS IN TOWN!
You guys are free to twist the coach statement as you like but he said what he said, you guys shd deal with it, yes tinubu luck is already paving way for our NT, the falconet beat Benin republic 3-0 to qualify for the final and this U20 have defy all odd to win 3 great countries, if you guys still doubt the new president luck, then you guys need brain examination, hate him all you want, he still remain the NO 1 citizen of the country for now.
Mr Bosso. Common sense should have told u to either dedicate the trophy to suffering (Including u as i believe you’re being owed wages by the same govt u want to dedicate your achievement to) Nigerians who have been facing untold hardship as a result of wicked leadership and regimes or to God who has given u the Grace to achieve the feat. It is absurd to dedicate the trophy to a man who killed and maimed the people he intended to rule in order to grab power. It is stupid to dedicate the trophy to a man who glaringly obstructed the process to become president. Even, nature would frown at such an idea let alone GOD. You Northerners are the reason why you are so backward in life and the reason why your leaders do not value you bcs they already know that no matter what they do or how wicked and corrupt they are, you people will still sheepishly and foolishly worship them. However, since you have decided to toe this wicked line, believe me, the Glory of God that has brought u thus far has drparted from u unless u renounce this statement. I won’t be surprised if you lose our next game against south korea as a result. Failure is already lurking around bcs u have decided to dine with satan for future selfish gains. I wonder what tinubu has done for you that should make u dedicate the trophy to him. The same crop of idiots who are starving u are the people u want to dedicate your achievement to. Chei! Stupidity…@greenturf, tinubu does not represent us, pls. He might represent u but not me. A drug lord and murderer can never be and will never be a representation Of ME in any way.
Goat….when your father becomes PRESIDENT or when you get to do anything meaningful with your life for the country, you can decide who to DEDICATE it to.
For now LADAN BOSSO is Coach of U20 FLYING EAGLES and ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU GCFR is PRESIDENT AND COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA!
Deal with it or look for nearest TRANSFORMER or LAGOON around you!
Tell me how you SOUTH EASTERNERS are also not backward!
In the SOUTH,.you lousy loud mouths are the most BACKWARD and yet you don’t hear the most SUCCESSFUL SOUTHERNERS who are the YORUBAS or the SOUTH SOUTH people who are doing better than you in terms of IGR and other development index brag and disrespect people!
Allow the SUFFERING NORTH to suffer in peace..Did we cry to you CRIMINALS who have chronically BASTARDIZED NIGERIA’S image outside the shores of this country for assistance????
Cry till eternity, it will take more than a MIRACLE for you IGBOS to be PRESIDENT..it’s not hatred..it’s your behavior..It’s your disrespect for others.
This is football platform. If you don’t maintain that and deviate to politics; WE ARE READY for you
Just like the GLORY OF GOD departed from your DOT IN A CIRCLE ENCLAVE and IPOB UNGUNMEN and erosion are twin ravagers of your land.
I said it here since GERNOT RHOR days, you write senselessly!
How do you INSULT an entire REGION in a friendly and intellectual platform like this? Are you mad?
And you claim to live outside NIGERIA
Have you thought about NORTHERNERS on this platform who always AGREED with you on sporting MATTERS?
How senseless and insensitive can one be??
Hahahahhaha…..since independence, you fools have had a good share of power and up till today, u are the most backward in every ramification and it is a fact. Google is there to help if you pretend not to know. The highest number of out of school drop outs is in the north . highest rate of child mortality north . highest rate of impoverished people -north, highest rate of every bad thing na for north . What do u bring to the table, absolutely nothing. Your means of survival are only gotten from proceeds from other parts of the country. You get the highest budgetry allocation in the Country but yet you people are the poorest of all. Give the south east a quarter of your allocation and watch everywhere turn to japan. Miserable idiot. If it were not for igbos, would you parasites have good houses to live in your place???? Stinking idiot. Despite all you have tried to supress us we are still flying high above you. Up till date, your brother’s (abacha) loot is still being recovered 2 good decades after his death. Shame on you. If u think we ain’t important, why dont u let us go and have our Biafra. Miserable parasite. Yes, i am Igbo and proudly for that matter….you loot the whole world and still poor. Miserable stupid looters
Everything is subsidized for you, e remain the air wey u breath but u are still poor and impoverished and languishing in penury. I bet you, if you suffer a quarter percent of what you Fools have subjected us to in this country, there would be no trace of you anymore but yet we are still watching . Ewu Hausa…
Waxing*
I see nothing WRONG in what @OAKFIELD said tho.. LET’S be FRANK is the NORTH not the most BACKWARD REGION amongst other REGIONS?.. check the POVERTY RATE, INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT etc.. but like HE said most of you here got your BRAINS TRIBALLY WIRED that YOU TEND to READ TRIBAL meanings from every CONVERSATION…
Learn from what happened to the senior team at the last cup of nations. It was all smooth sailing for them until they entertained a call from bihari and then everything began to crumble. Same thing happend to anthony joshua before his famous fight that led to his dethronement as the world heavy weight champion. These people are carriers of evil. Do not associate with them bcs they’d definitely transmit their evil to you like a virus. Do not ascribe to man the glory that is due to him. It is God’s grace that has brought u thus far and not tunubu nor the nff. Let that sink into your head and recant this statement before it is too late.
Bastard product of a baby Factory
I am sure an IGBO man was President when the WORLD KNOWN MURDERER GEN SANI ABACHA put a call to every single member of TUNISIA 94 TEAM AND ATLANTA 96 OLYMPICS Teams who on both occasions won GOLD!!!!!
WEST GERMANY killed over 6M Jews and caused the deaths of over 10M people yet won 1974 WORLD CUP!
I haven’t seen ISRAEL and SAUDI ARABIA who are custodians of RELIGION or INDIA another major RELIGION ever WON any WORLD CUP….not in YOUTHS, not WOMEN and certainly not MEN!!!!
Keep your wretched and miserable RELIGION BELIEFS out of SPORTS!!!!!
Oh yes, u are right. I could be a bastard but i could give u my shoes to shine for me @50 naira And then u clean my gutters @100 naira. U could bring your brothers if u can’t finish the work today ……miserable parasites….
@Oakfield this madness wey just enter your head needs urgent attention o, talking like a vagabond like this makes me wonder what happened to you?
Can’t you see that you guys are the miserable ones here now, you have been removed totally from reality and you are just clutching at the straws and abusing everyone not towing the mad lane like you and your Obidiots alike
God will heal you soon
If u do not see the unwarranted tribal attacks first from that cattle rearer @shaiub and larry, i wonder what you have been reading so far. I would not allow myself to be drawn into further exchange of words with anyone as I’ve seen that some people are chronic tribalists who jump at any slightest opportunity to unleash their tribal venom just as experienced in the hands of shaibu and others. I have yoruba amd hausa friends. I have travelled accross the length and breadth of the world, met and done business with yorubas and hausas and have come to the conclusion that this cankerworm called tribalism is a tool used by politicians to achieve their devilish interests. However, You tend to be one of them if u don’t see the rot in shauibu, larry and one other moron here that calls himself field Marshall’s posts. It is very unfortunate that politicians have succeeded in sowing seeds of discord amongst well meaning nigerians whenever they want to achieve their selfish respective purposes. It played out before everyone during the elections and it is playing out here again. Imagine what will happen if someone like shaibu or larry is given a top political post in the country. Your guess is as good as mine. And you @dr banks, i don’t think you’re any different from the aforementioned idiots going by the tone of your post. It seems u are one of them but trying so hard to hide it but still some way some how, it reveals your true color. The obidients you made reference to are people who want a new and better nigeria and drawn from across all tribes but bcs your brians are tribally wired , obidients are seen as Igbos.
Hahahahahha…..another arch tribal bigot hovering above. My post has nothing to do with tribe but bcs your brains are tribally wired, u suddenly triggered the tribal wire at the sight of my post and boom everywhere is set ablaze. Miserable bigot. I still stand by my initial post and nothing can change it. Fool.
Korean will win Nigeria
You started the TRIBAL WAR here, very typical of you IGBOS; brainless OAKSHIT and that STREET HAWKER called CHIMA SAMUEL and when DR BANKS rightly cautioned you; you went on another VICTIM-TRIP. Idiotic moron!
Unlike you ZOMBIEFIED OBINGOLISTIC IGBOS, the HAUSA FULANIS and YORUBAS are more refined.
For instance, I am not YORUBA even if DR DREY used to think I am same person as JIMMYBALL who’s IDOMA..I have said it here before, the most sophisticated and finest writers on this forum are YORUBAS but you don’t see them display that..Even if I was always on same SIDE with UGO IWUNZE, JIMMYBALL, LARRY, CHIKA SAMUEL etc, one will observe that UGO AND CHIMA are always drumming support for IGBO plyers against others but YORUBAS like DR BANKS, DR DREY, POMPEI etc always backed MUSA who is not YORUBA. DR DREY is aso MADUKA OKOYE no 1 FAN
IGBOS are always tribally and aggressive and insultive. You claim we are parasites but evwey CRIMINAL out there 8/10 are IGBOS
I rather be a humble PARASITE than be a CHRONIC, UNREPENTANT, PATHOLOGICAL CRIMINAL!
You won’t get your BIAFRA and if you misbehave you will have LEOPARDS DANCING in your SOUTH EAST forests!
Shegu wa wawaye Yan bamza kawai!
What about the years that we won the cup. 10 afcon titles with players from the tribe u hate So much. Record breaking….hahahhah…u see how stupid u are??? Who won the ten titles for you????? U suddenly glossed over that and suddenly pounced on our 1st loss decades since the inception of women afcon . If u had your way, u people would’ve erased the record of titles won with Igbo gals but unfortunately, that is not possible. Hahhaha..The truth is, we are miles ahead of you and u can’t change. I wonder why u shiver whenever u see an Igbo man. U people can’t comprehend how we do it after all u do to suppress us….hahhahaahh. At the gov polls in Lagos, u triggered the tribal wire yet again. If igbos werent a force to reckon with why then did u have to threaten and attack them???? You Would’ve allowed the game to be played on a level playing ground make we see how e go be. Ewu. Gambia
Hahahaha….another tribal bigot on the block. Hahaha…shameless idiot like you. The tribe u call backward are the spine of your economy. The tribe u call illiterate have the best surgeons and teachers in the world not to talk of the field of academia. They are one of the richest tribes in the world. These are facts that cannot be denied or glossed over as u try to do all along without success. Tell me the investments your people have in the east but ndi igbo have so invested at home and have invested in every part of your zoo Nigeria. Our investments give your families livelihood otherwise i see no reason why you will shiver whenever the issue of Biafra is raised. If you say we ain’t important to you, then let us be. Let us go our separate ways as we were before the british came and formed this evil union. Allow ndi igbo to go, u refuse and shout one Nigeria. What is that thing that is making you people not to allow us to go????? What is that???? We do not want to be a part of this union.
Where is your tribesmen amongst the TOP 10 RICHEST MEN IN AFRICA? You are simply delusional to the core. Your people are excelling in Drug business, sale of anything fake, ritual killings and gangsterism and you call that success?
In Academia, you are only noice makers but the real Academic excellence stories belong to the Yorubas so shut up your stinking mouth here so we can breathe
Lol
Except you repudiate your nigerian citizenship, Tinubu still represents you as of today. Court may change that tomorrow. But As things stand now, Tinubu is by every definition your president.
Please let us stop this for Christ sake, this is not the first time people will be dedicating trophyto their president. South Africans did that to nelson Mandela on several occasions.
Rather than using all of these muscles on abusing each other or abusing other tribes, why don’t we collectively pray for the success of team first. Even the coach is not sure if they will make it past koreans. So let us shield our swords ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ abeg.
Bosso is free to express himself in any way is an adult.
Those that didn’t want win it for any president but for the entire Nigeria couldn’t win jack. So if winning for Tinubu will truly translate to winning the trouphy for real, then bosso you have my blessing.
First win the trophy bosso any how you and your team can.
A trophy you have not won yet but you are dedicating it to a sick old man because of money and neglecting God almighty….SMH
@ field Marshall.General.Sir Johnbob.I am let down by your post about the two tribes you mentioned particularly the Ibos which you razed to the ground and exhibited so much hate and yet claim to be neutral and not a bigot still you could loathe an entire tribe to the point of calling them illiterates and fools,if there’s oneness in this country we will fight for each other, should someone say the same to a Yoruba tribe the forum will come out in numbers to show their disgust but now they are tight-lipped.
We should condemn what is not right.
I wish there will be solidarity like-mindedness having one voice one heart,it’s a shame Nigeria see the tribe and not the country I wish for a fairer, more egalitarian society.
@jonbob, what you wrote here is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE!
While the Igbos have their short comings just like every tribe in the world, they are the most well-educated, most independent, least tribalistic tribe in Nigeria.
I gave a Yoruba man whom I didn’t know from Adam, rent-free housing, rent-free shop, started business for him and his wife and is currently financing his children’s education in the east.
This is a sports forum but some of you bigots can’t help but bring your deep-seated ethnic hatred here.
Get a life!
Wow! This is deep seated hate! You need healing. There can be no justification for hating other tribes,a tribalist is no different from a racist. Please understand that even if you perceive that 99% of a race or tribe is bad, that 1% is sufficient to give them a benefit of doubt. There are progressive minded northerners and igbo people. What you have done is make to make incendiary comments born out of a fallacious conviction; fallacy of hasty generalisation.
You can not overcome evil with evil and hate can never overcome love. Otherwise, you become the very thing you hate. You said the igbos are close minded people but aren’t you views sufficient evidence that you are close minded too?
What baffles me is the fact that those that cry out racism living in foreign lands, are the same ones being ethnic jingoist. What irony!.
We are all from an ethnic background, we
all have our political preferences and linings; we should understand that no one loves Nigeria more than the other. More importantly, we are all humans first.
The mindset should be that your conscience be of truth and the “Nigerian tribe” should always hold sway.
Let your humanity lead. Let good guide you.
I am a Yoruba man, my name says it all. I want to say that is is bad that Nigeria has been brought to such a state where each of us blame all tribes except ours as the main problem of our their country.
In actual sense, we have no true Nigerian anymore, we are more loyal to our tribes instead of our Nation. The sad thing is that we get angry when an Oyinbo racially abuse us, but we don’t know that unfortunately, tribal and ethnocentrism nature of ours is worse than racism.
Why are blacks this way? When the west are trying to form a platform of unity thereby dominating the world, all we have is ethnicity, inferiority complex and xenophobia. When are we going to grow up. I understand that we have had traumatic relationships within our tribes and religions so far but we who are supposedly the wises because of the information and technology at our disposal are the worse of all the generations Nigeria ever produced.
It is high time we sat up and understand that there is strength in number (which most countries of the world do not have) especially when it is mixed with unity. This is the reason smaller countries in Europe are trying to form platforms in which they can trade without barriers.
Akeju to n ba Omo Olowo je. God has blessed us so much, we have the number, weather, raw materials, mineral resources, no natural disasters and, but we have decided to curse ourselves with our foolish actions.
Let us change our ways and embrace one another at the same time work towards helping and healing our Nation. Nigeria is the pride of Africa.
God bless you all and God bless the federal republic of Nigeria.
The most sensible write up so far read from this platform. You’re simply the right person to lead others who happened to be less rational in thinking. In fact, thumb up for you.
God bless you and Nigeria.
Over the past few months, nigerians have passed through one of the hardest Periods in the history of this country. Just coming from the heat of naira scarcity with its attendant consequences that led to the displacement and death of many, then came the mishap of ordinary general elections where scores were killed and maimed. Many had their shops and properties destroyed all bcs they wanted to freely express their inherent right of choice of leadership as Nigerians living in a country where they called home. The already bleeding country has even been cut open more by a new regime who out of carelessness (as usual) did not consider the sufferings of the people , removed subsidy which in my opinion was a very good idea but ill timed bcs the right things that ought to be done to cushion the effect of the removal was not done and you begin to wonder the kind of leaders we have. Now, having experienced all these, anybody in his right senses would consider givin back to Nigerians ( of all tribes) who have Passed and still passing through untold hardship bcs of the carelessness and wickedness of our leaders who are squarely responsible for what innocent Nigerians are passing through at the moment. No tribe goes to the market and buys things cheaper than other tribes. No tribe buys fuel cheaper than other tribes. No tribe gets the best healthcare than others. We are all trapped in the same web of evil created by our wicked leaders of which tinubu is part and parcel of. Whatever you achieve should be dedicated to millions of Nigerians who have been pushed to the wall but have resolved to remain resolute and optimistic that things go better. Theze people are the main heroes and not one drug baron that came into power through the back door. It is sickening and insensitive to dedicate a trophy to someone who has caused a lot of pain, untold hardship, death and destruction to many Innocent nigerians who just asked for nothing more than a better life where basic amenities are provided and where the rule of law thrives. This i posited and i was attacked by idiots and tribal bigots. This country would never be better until we show our leaders in our own little way (since we cannot protest for fear of being killed) that we are not happy and they should amend their evil ways And do the right thing for us. The late Yaradua ( of blessed memory and a great man) wanted to do this but death no gree am. Mr Boso had every opportunity to right his name in gold if he said he would dedicate the trophy to Nigerians but he unfortunately decided to do otherwise bcs of his own personal Selfish future gains. I pray karma doesn’t haunt for him as a result, i pray…
And o my God!
I use to THINK that it’s only @UGO that is the only TRIBAL BIGOT that WE have in this FORUM but I was WRONG cos I can see so many of them that has been DISGUISING the likes of MAHMOUD SHUAIB…SMH…
You disappoint me with this most unfortunate and biased comment!
How is an HAUSA who berated someone who insulted PRESIDENT TINUBU who is YORUBA, a TRIBAL BIGOT??
Are you carrying over your GERNOT RHOR days fight against me here too??
Just like I advised @FIELD MARSHALL JOHNBOB….you need to withdraw this or I take it as open INVITATION to ATTACK you
Lol…now, how are you different from him. Most of the comments above were borne from tribal biases, and that saddens me a lot. Just like all the tribes have their strengths, they also have their shortcomings or stereotypes, and that’s okay. Until we learn to appreciate and focus on the strengths of all of us, we may never see a great Nigeria. The tribal and cultural diversities are supposed to create a multidimensional economic avalanche that would ensue a greater vision for our unborn generations instead of these naive, derogatory, and self-righteous comments you all make around and instill in your offspring. Lately, I have come to realize that these our politicians are far smarter than most of us that think we are the genius of this generation. I mean, you can’t possibly be knowledgeable if you are tribalistic or racist, because, a different tribe or race just means a unique or divine strengths and weaknesses, and never that you are better. For instance, Atiku, Tinubu, Obi Buhari, Ameachi, Wike etc. will never create a life-long enemy because of tribes. They have rotatively been working together and accommodating each other for decades, despite the differences in the tribes or cultures. Just because they have their interest and priorities well separated from their emotions. I mean, there’s nothing wrong in identifying that the ibos are relatively more industrious, that the Hausas are trustworthy, and that the Yorubas are relatively educated. If you have a business of your own, these are qualities you can explore at different organisational levels. And back to Bosso’s dedication of victory to Tinubu, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, in my opinion. It was Bosso’s victory as the team’s head coach, and he has every right to dedicate it to anyone at all. If you think he should have dedicated it to all Nigerians or whoever, wait for when you have your own victory, and you can dedicate it to whoever you want.
The truth is every man from any tribe is tribal bias. The yoruba man is a tribal bigot, an Hausa man is a tribal bigot, the igbo man is tribal bigot, and the same with itsekiri, idoma and all other tribes in Nigeria. It is only few people that have grown beyond the shackles of ethnicity.
_ Factors Behind Bosso’s Progress _
Bosso, in my opinion, is being incredibly diplomatic, patriotic and perhaps humble in stating that he would like to win this tournament for the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Africa’s most populous country.
If you ask me, I think the serial Flying Eagles tactician would – first and foremost – like to win the tournament for himself.
And would you blame him?
Since being named as the Flying Eagles coach umpteenth time in 2020, the 55 year old boss has ensured nothing but abuse and ridicule from a sizeable body of Nigeria fans.
From being called inept, useless and an outright waste of space, no disparaging adjective was off the table in describing Bosso’s coaching credentials.
Yet, those same coaching credentials have pushed the Flying Eagles within the precipice of greatness in Argentina; but the battle is far from being won.
The maths is simple: defeat South Korea tomorrow and the Flying Eagles automatically have 75% chance of handing Tinubu his first major football accomplishment in either gold, silver or bronze medals. Healthy odds if you ask me.
Lose to Korea and Bosso’s critics will again weild the knife and claim victory, despite Nigeria’s heroics against Italy and Argentina – football is a game of fine and narrow margins isn’t it?
For me, for now, let me briefly examine 5 factors that have brought the Flying Eagles success thus far in this tournament under the tutelage of Boss Bosso.
1: Route One football: has anyone noticed that goalkeeper Aniagboso has 1 assist (against Italy) and 1 pre-assist (against Argentina) in this tournament? With the physicality of our strikers, this route one strategy might again come good for Nigeria against Korea.
2: Sucker Punch Supremos: The Flying have been surreptitiously merciless in this tournament. Their second goals against their toughest opponents came after 90 minutes. This speaks to their ‘staying power’, fortitude and incredible endurance.
The Koreans will have to be alert for the entirety of the match if they don’t want to be swept away by the cascading flash flood that is Bosso’s Flying Eagles.
3: Deadly substitutions: Is it a stretch to say that Bosso’s substitutes against Argentina unsettled the South Americans? Will I be telling lies to say that Sarki and Nnadi tortured the Italians when they came on?
Okay, I must confess that I was shocked when Bosso yanked Jude Sunday off against Argentina and Salim off against Italy. This Geezah called Bosso is not afraid to make tough decisions in-game.
All I can say is: Korea beware of Bosso’s substitutions.
4: Formation flexibility: When a lone striker model wasn’t working against Argentina, Bosso introduced a holding center forward with support from runners from deep. Both his substitutes provided assists by holding up play (with the force of their physicality) and then feeding a runner from deep – a departure from over-reliance on wingplace.
Bosso has several tricks up sleeves.
5: Defensive solidity: what else can I say about this point? Loss of shape and discipline led to goals conceded against Dominican Republic and Brazil. Bosso’s instructions are clear, if the players stay disciplined and focused, they can be quite impregnable. Admittedly they need a bit of luck as well.
All in all, I don’t think it is inaccurate to describe Bosso’s Flying Eagles as defensively astute on a good day.
Well well well! After all is said and done, I think tomorrow’s tie will be absorbing and fascinating. I still think Bosso’s boys have it in them to grab a medal from this tournament.
So, a lot is riding on the outcome of this African v Oriental game. I don’t want to predict the outcome, I just want to enjoy the duel.
Whether it is President Bola Tinubu or President Yoon Suk Yeol that will prevail, we will have to wait and see.
GREAT POST. In those days there was one coach who usually qualifies with a game to spare BUT HIS SUBSTITUTIONS IS HATED BY THOSE PLAYING, THE BENCH AND THE FANS, YET THE REJECTED BOSSO HAS BEEN CRACKING RIBS WITH HIS EXCELLENT SUBS. SORRY BOSSO FOR NOT BELIEVING IN YOU. BUT ALL YOUR LEAGUE EXPERIENCES IN NPFL IS COMING IN HANDY NOW
@Field Marshall Bob, Jimmy Ball, Greenturf and Oakfield are great guys, go and make peace with them.
@Arara Kumbie – Are you for real??
I should go and make peace with bastards that have cursed and wished me bad??
Did you not read what I just posted? That my initial post was genuinely not an attack on anybody specifically and I was only reflecting on what had gone on between mahmud shuaib and oakfield – and did I not stress that I have very good friends among all these other tribes? I tried very much to make my post very general and not at all personal did I not? I even came back and explained myself (which is not a thing that I tend to do at all) just to try and help some of these planks understand what I was trying to say and the tone of my post.
If anything, maybe I was not too clear in my post or maybe I did not really qualify what I was saying and why I was saying it but I GENUINELY meant no real harm but beyond that am I not fully entitled to my own opinions whether they may sound incendiary or not, I admit that my post was a bit OTT but again I stress that my opinions were borne out of what I had read (mostly instigated by that twat mahmud shuaib) but then that oakfield felt the need to attack me personally when I did not attack anyone on a personal level –
Okay,I generalised a little but again you weren’t there when I bumped into an Igbo guy the other day in South Africa (far from home) and the way he related to me after he realised that I was a Yoruba shocked me!- I was shocked by his coldness toward me and I had been very warm and welcoming to him – that left a very bad taste in my mouth, I have not had any interactions with any igbo’s in Nigeria of late and so I was shocked to see how an Igbo guy can hate another Nigerian who has done him no harm and even more worryingly in another country just because he is Yoruba?? I was still reeling from that and then I started noticing a few other things which brought certain things into sharp focus for me – I WILL TELL YOU THIS – HOW CAN I BE A TRIBALIST OR RACIST OR WHATEVER THOSE FOOLS ARE CALLING ME WHEN IN THE LAST ELECTIONS I VOTED FOR OBI? IS HE NOT AN IGBO MAN? WHY WOULD I VOTE FOR HIM IF I HAVE ANY PERSONAL MINDLESS HATRED TOWARDS THE IBO’S – ALSO WAS I NOT THE ONE DECRYING TINUBU’S VICTORY? I HAVE ALREADY PUT IT OUT THAT SOME OF MY VERY BEST FRIENDS ARE HAUSA’S AND IGBO GUYS WHO I WENT TO SCHOOL WITH
It makes absolutely no sense to me that you are asking me to make peace with unreasonable madmen who would attack me not only for a reaction I had to two fools arguing on here but also for something that came out of my own personal and genuine experience(s) – No I will do no such thing.
Maybe to Greenturf, I could definitely make peace with because his response was measured and showed intelligence and maturity – we are all grown men here and we cannot all be expected to always agree on everything – I am not a maniac who would start cursing a man just because I do not agree with his different point of view so – yes to Greenturf – my apologies if I offended him in my reply! (As I never did in my initial post!) – He said he was disappointed in my post but I am even more disappointed in his response to me and surprised that even he seemed to miss the general tone of my post – nevertheless, his response was still measured to an extent and because of that I have nothing against him – As for the others, they can all ROT IN HELL!

Oakfield, let sleeping dogs lie. Field Marshal is not one to mess with. Run for your life.
Guys this is really appalling to say the least. Why turn a football forum to an ethnic platform?? The coach have the right to say whatever he wants about the person who happens to be the president of his country. Because he said this some are already predicting doom for the team abba!! This is disgusting. We’ve all done our parts at the polls and the rest is in the hands of the judiciary to decide. Besides politics is a game of interest nobody should be forcing his or her candidate on the throat of other people. Let’s free this forum from tribal hatred and ethnic bigotry. We are all Nigerians Igbo Hausa or Yoruba. Even if you have 20 different passports from 20 different countries you’re still a Nigerian. Leave the coach alone he has a right to his opinion. Tinubu is the president until the court decides otherwise. Let’s focus on our only team that is currently doing us proud. Nigeria has many problems, but the only thing that unites us as a country is football. Let’s keep tribalism out of it.
@Ayphillydegreat
What you said is your own opinion. Someone else definitely has an opinion different from yours. If anyone says Tinubu is not his president, then respect his take on that. Tinubu is the president of Nigeria. He for now, decides what happens in Nigeria but he, in his position as president, cannot decide how you run your family. Secondly, if South Africans at a time in history, dedicated anything to their Nationalistic Nelson Mandela, if was because he gave up his freedom, wealth, comfort and all for his country men. He deserved the honour. I am still wondering what Tinubu of all people and most of our past political leaders have done for you and me to deserve the honour. You dey talk like say you no know how the Tinubu stole into power right from primaries;A drug baron in power. In your village, will you sincerely give him that honour?
Well said @Danu. I never liked that Ayphilly, he is a Gabonese in disguise. Let him leave this platform for bona-fide Nigerians. Who names himself degreat? Only Gabonese people talk like that. Just leave our Nigeria for us or else we will deal with you mercilessly.
@DANURCHMAN. No one is forcing the president on you and vice versa. As of today he’s the president of Nigeria until the court says otherwise. I don’t need anything from Tinubu and neither does my family. We all live in the US. I went to college with one of Tinubus kids and that is enough for me.
We all want a better Nigeria but we should stop this ethnic profiling on a football forum. If anyone wants to discuss politics and ethnic hatred why not go to Twitter where you can be easily blocked??! We are here to discuss football and the progress of our darling FlyingEagles. Bosso’s statements is his opinion and he’s right because Tinubu represents Nigeria. As of today he’s the number citizen until the judiciary decides. I won’t go down the line of tribalism on a football platform.
Akanlo Ede lol!! Lmao!! I understand your sarcasm.
@Ayphillydegreat
I have no reason to be sarcastic. I am only stating the reality on the ground. Regardless of wherever you live on earth, the comfort and good life you enjoy there have been made possible by the leader and his men. Even if you don’t live here in Nigeria, your relatives live here. I still ask you the second time; What has Tinubu the drug baron of a president and other past leaders like him done for your family here to deserve the honour? There are no indices for comparison between Tinubu and a leader like Nelson Mandela. A man like Mandela, deserved to be the president 10 times. He also deserves to be honoured even in his grave.
Bro I’m referring to @Akanlo Ede regarding sarcasm not you. I don’t have to tell you what I’ve gained from Tinubu personally on the internet. Leave that between me and family. My family is already blessed we don’t need Nigeria to survive. We contribute our own quota to the Nigeria economy by providing employment opportunities in our own little way and pay taxes. I go to Nigeria at least twice a year. Therefore, you’re not In the position to tell me what I might have or not gain from Tinubu.
As great as America is you can go to a bar to have a drink and be shot dead. I have a company in Lagos Nigeria where some younger people are surviving and taking care of their families. I’m not comparing Tinubu to Mandela. I only echo Bosso’s statement that they want to win the tournament for the president of his country. If you’re still waiting for what to gain from Tinubu Oga you go wait tire o. You better focus on your hustle and leave the rest to fate.
Were you is drug supplier to know he was a baron. lease don’t come here with you dirty stinky assumptions. Even the american government never called him a drug dealer.
Are you really surprised, @Ayphillydegreat? The situation we see here is a clear reflection of how things are in our country. It doesn’t matter if it’s a football forum or a religious gathering, people always bring up their biases based on tribe and race. It has become a regular part of our lives, a big national problem that we’re not ready to solve.
This issue started before we gained independence, when our founding fathers played politics based on ethnicity. And these are people who we so rever today, people whose faces adone our currency notes as national heroes. Heroes for making our independence possible, villains for being selfish in their politicsl games.
They passed on this problem to us, and now we’re living with it without any care or thought.
To understand this better, let’s look at the political and historical aspects. Before Nigeria became independent, there were already divisions among different ethnic groups. The founding fathers, the leaders who fought for our independence, often used ethnicity as a way to gain power and influence. This created a culture where people prioritize their own ethnic group and discriminate against others. It’s deeply ingrained in our society.
This problem didn’t go away after independence. It continued to be passed down from one generation to another. We see it in all aspects of our lives, even in places where it shouldn’t matter, like sports or religious events. It’s a sad reality that we haven’t been able to overcome this national issue.
Only God can help us.
I saw this thread like 2 days ago and ignored. Can’t believe it’s still active with endless brickbats and gbas gbos. Shame those nosy Ghanaians will be reading and having a blast laughing without commenting (until Nigeria loses so they can gloat or wins so they can play it down).
Quite sad the level of ethnic bigotry embedded in the average Nigerian, no matter how traveled or ‘exposed’ to foreign cultures he/she is. I mean, it’s absolutely normal to have implicit bias towards others based on tribe, age, location, and education level all because of some past isolated experiences, but how you react and address our own distorted views before they become an attitude is all that matters. Why put an adult you’ve not had any real interaction with in a box or view them with deep suspicion simply on account of their tribal affiliation? Is it unfair to pass a definitive judgment on an entire tribe you live together with? Historically, wars and genocides have been triggered when people of such mindsets assume the reins of power (e.g. Hitler).
Funny, it’s easy to tell some people’s ethnic jaundice, not by their moniker, but their heavy tribal-colored comments; while you can hardly tell the ethnic group of others. Nah una know. I always have fond memories and continue to relate with my good friends from Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa (my good friend back then in Kano, Ibrahim), Tive, Idoma, Ibibio, Urhobo, Efik, Edo, Etsako, Isoko, etc. I just forget the bad ones (and I’ve had them from every tribe).
By the way, please let’s respect the office of the President. It’s normal to dedicate a win to the first citizen. It says a lot about you if you act otherwise. And, yes, I am from South-South.
Gentleman and ladies (if any)of this forum, I greet you all.
We have enjoyed our arguments in thus forum all these years because it’s been devoid of political and ethnic gbas gbos.
Please let understand and acknowledge the fact that we all have our choices and our biases but we must continue to interact freely.
Regardless of whom I supported during the elections, none of us here can change the President so I don’t see any reason why we should start cursing one another cuz of our varying individual choices. I am pretty sure that everyone of us here have friends or allies spread across other tribes within Nigeria, so for the sake of our relationships, let’s ignore politics and move on.
Please I beg everyone let’s sheath our swords. It will be nice to see Dr Drey and Jimmy Ball trade tackles on the issue of Genert Rohr or read Omo Naija’s scouting reports on unknown Nigerian players. I love to read those analysis from Deos, Hush, Greenturf, Pompeii & Aphylidgreat rather than read some of these harsh words we’ve been posting.
We have always enjoyed this forum before now, please let’s make peace and continue to enjoy ourselves.
God bless.
danurchman eh? GOD PUNISH YOUR FATHER MOTHER, GRANDFATHER GRANDMOTHER THEN THUNDER AND LIGHTNING STRIKE YOU DEAD!
IMBECILE! NO DOUBT ANOTHER AJOKUTA MAMOMI!
Wow! Israel knocked Brazil out of the tournament. This is what we should be discussing here not bigotry tribal hatred and ethnic jingoism.
Just seen the result at flashscore missed the game didn’t know there was football today.Wow unbelievable result still processing how Israel pulled off such a huge victory i’m so happy for them.
Hopefully, should we progress to the final our opponent will be any of USA,Uruguay and Israel, any of these teams are winnable,it could be our cup after all fingers crossed!
True that but we still have to play the Koreans first. It won’t be an easy game tomorrow but I hope we come out on top. Every game from here on is a final and I believe that’s how the boys should play them. Good luck to the FlyingEagles of Nigeria.
I know, the Korean game is giving me jitters because I don’t know what to expect I honestly can’t predict the outcome of tomorrow’s game.
@ Ayphillydegreat
Abi o my buroda
Watching that game and how it turned out brought to mind something that somebody on here said the other day – they pretty much predicted what would probably happen next and the permutations of who we Naija may meet next and they completely discounted any possibility of Israel getting past Brazil – I remember thinking to myself then that there were 2 main things wrong with that assumption:
1. Israel has been set aside by God from the days of old so I would never ever just write them off like that in anything – I know it;s just football but if it is something that they really want, it will always be foolhardy to bet against or summarily discount them because it’s a spiritual matter lol
2. In football nowadays, there are no more small boy push overs, any team now can beat any other team – just ask Chelsea with the array of stars they assembled, you can’t just think that because you are Brazil these days that it means you will just beat Israel – it does not work like that anymore.
I would encourage our boys not to take South Korea lightly at all because they are actually a very good team anyway plus like I said there are easy games anymore in football and especially high level tournament football.
That was supposed to say **No easy games**
We are one, we are Nigerians , great people, intelligent people, lovely people, ……
…Dear Fellow Forumites, I greet you all. I was actually in transit when I opened the latest active thread here and saw a comment from @Field Marshall.General.Sir Johnbob that triggered me badly.
…I will jettison pride and apologize to the entire forum about my comment. I just hate rk see tribal stuff here.
…It is on record that I often check folks like @Chima E Samuels here and a couple others who are either Igbo or from Southern Nigeria and have often lambasted coaches for selecting players of Northern extraction.
Often here on this forum, when some of our teams, mostly the age grade squads go to tournament and underperform, these ones amongst us often push the notion that it’s only players of Igbo/Edo/Delta and generally Southern Nigeria that have often done Nigeria proud in soccer and hence we should see less or almost no players from the Northern part of the country.
…Witnessing our last game in the on-going FIFA U-20 against Argentina where two players of Northern Nigeria origins did the nation proud, I am sure such kind of notions that only certain part of Nigeria has football brains and IQ to further Nigeria’s good fortunes in football on the global state can now be put to rest once and for all.
…So naturally when I read that comment characterizing Igbos and Hausas, I was livid as our forum must not be put to such negative discourses. Having said that… I also made the mistake of descending into the same mudcreek of blanket generalization that while countering the individual @Field Marshall.General.Sir Johnbob, I labeled the entirety of Yorubas as being overly tribal… due to my experiences with just a few Yorubas I happened to have worked with in the past. Admittedly, I was wrong to do that and apologize to this forum, and I take those words back.
…There are great football minds that I respect here, and I felt I had let them down with my scathing reply on the thread as a result. Tribalism is actually something that all tribes in Nigeria, one way or the other are guilty of.
What is important is for us to continue collectively as a people, to believe in our diversity and differences, while riding together with respect and support in a positive and reasonable sense to forge our country into the nation of our dreams.
…Once again I apologize to this great forum as we come together under common purpose to discuss football ideas, cheer and support our Darling Flying Eagles to a potential great showing at the on-going FIFA U-20 World Cup.
WOW Wow Wow, this is just unbelivable. So disappointed, can’t believe all have read so far. Obviously their are so many pretenders on this platform. No amount of apology can redeem the fact that many are ethnic bigotry’s on this latform. What a disgrace
You called me BEAST….did I at any point insult TINUBU or YORUBAS???
I didn’t even attack IGBOS…I only berated OAKFOOL and CHIMA FAKE PRODUCTS SAMUELS for attacking BOSSO and for ridiculing the HAUSAS (OAKSHIT)
You need to revisit my comments and RECANT on your direct attack on my person, please.
Thank you @FIELD MARSHALL JOHNBOB
