Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has congratulated Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, following their shock 2-0 win against hosts Argentina in the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Second half goals from Ibrahim Muhammad and Haliru Sarki earned the Flying Eagles the win.
Reacting to the win, Peseiro said the Ladan Bosso side fought really hard to achieve the win.
“Brilliant game today,” Peseiro wrote on Twitter.
“Proud of our U20 team who fought valiantly and emerged victorious against Argentina. This is a testament to their determination, skill, and the spirit of Nigerian football. Onward to the quarter-finals! 🇳🇬⚽️🏆.”
This is the first time ever the Flying Eagles will beat a South American team at the U-20 World Cup.
They will now face either Ecuador or South Korea in the quarter-finals on Sunday.

How is this shocking? We have been saying Argies only made it to this tournament thanks to fifa who stripped Indonesia of the hosting right and gave it to Argies who wobbled in the qualifiers plus keeping them in a group of underdogs. Coaches who know Nigeria pedigree will not see winning matches against anyone as shock when we have done greater things in the past. NFF shine your eyes and hire coaches with proven win track record else this second coaches will not see possibilities for big things with Nigeria.
Thank you, Oga Paseiro. I hope you learn one or two things from this match and adjust yourself a bit. I love your personality. You are passionate about Nigeria football and I hope you prove your worth to us soon.
We don’t want to waste another 6 year like NFF did during Oga Rohr. Please Oga Paseiro, do your best.
We patriotic Nigerians can’t waste much time anymore. As you can see now, we are pushing our local coaches to replace you foriegn coaches of our national teams.
We want made in Nigeria team. Everything about us have to be Nigeria. That is where we are heading to. So far, I am not impressed with your work. I wish you all the best coach. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
Yes @Omo9ja. With his 4-4-2 formation or nothing abi? May be we should draft Bosso straight to Super Eagles and promote like 10 from this under 20 to the senior team or what do you think @ Ono9ja? Bosso should work with Amunike(your favorite) and Siasia(ineligible) and like other 7 local based coaches.
It’s like Fanendo Adi is still playing , Nwakali, Arokodare, they should look for them too. So that we won’t spend another 6 years without winning World Cup like we’ve been winning in the past and win nations cup too. With Daga, Eletu, Ogwuche, Fredricks, Akinsanmiro, beji Lawal, Sarki etc that has been doing what their seniors cannot do against high names like Dominican Republic Under 20, Italy Under 20 and star studded Argentina under 20, the rest of the world are in soup. Omo9ja the patriotic fan with Jimmyball. Now I know you both have been speaking the truth since.
Lol…don’t mind him. Bro be talking like he’s the only Nigerian, and the rest of of us are from Cotonu.
Ahahaha, you remember all the harsh words that guy wrote against gernot rhor nd since the innocent coach’s ouster the super eagles fortunes have nose dived……lost to a covid 19 depleted tunisia team in the round of 16,lost a place at the 2022 world cup competition to ghana, even with the presence of their most clamoured for coach, amunike emmanuel on the bench……may God forgive them.
Ahahaaha. @Sean, thank you. Like Oga Rohr did during his time ba lol.
I know you still pained about the departure of Oga Rohr. Can’t you see that our local coach can achieve something spectacular than the foriegn coach?
Why we lost to Argentina at the world cup when Oga was in charge?
Do your research and get back to me my man.
If you people like it or not, our own will dominate the national teams soon.
This is under 20 not under 17 for that matter kę. Part of this team will join the Super Eagles and I read it some where, Oga Paseiro already asking for two or more players from coach Bosso team to join the Eagles.
So, just relax and enjoy what our local coach is giving to us at the moment. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
U see how it is done @mr pesero??? That is the Nigerian spirit we are talking about. No be to dy run around for sidelines like site engineer wey carry shit for yansh. We need our senior team to play and work like these boys. Any way, u don reach your limit shaaa.
Kai, I can’t stop laughing oooooo. Did you say this when Oga Rohr was there with the Super Eagles @Oakfield?
I know many of you people will give our own go ahead in the end. It is a matter of time kę.
You can’t compare Amunike, Egbo, Marnu Gerba and Bosso to Oga Rohr and Oga Paseiro.
We have to believe in our own Oga Oakfield.
It is not about the skin but the brain ba.
I don’t want to talk but you people are acting like our own have no ideas but Bosso have shown that to you all.
It is too early to talk. I remain humble. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
Haha..my man @omo9ja….pls. Pessero can never be compared to rohr, biko. Rohr is miles away ahead of that site engineer. And for bosso, it is still early to start singing his praises. He still has a long away to go before he can prove himself capable to handle the senior team. Senior team no be beans. At this stage, he is facing a test In that regard, hence, he should keep his head down and focus on his goals.
Europe, Asia, America and the rest of the world except Africa always have their goals met in these underage tournaments. They play fair with the right ages. They are true 15,16,17,18,19 year Olds. That’s where it is a win for them even if they lose
Ghanaman una no dey tire???
How dem go tire? Our success na defeat for dem? Jealousy na infectious diseases.
