Victor Osimhen has said he and his Super Eagles teammates will do everything possible to win back the love of Nigerian football fans.
Osimhen stated this in an interview on NFF TV as the Super Eagles prepare to host Guinea-Bissau, in their third game in Group A of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers in Abuja on Friday.
Many football fans are still hurting from the Eagles failure to qualify for last year’s World Cup in Qatar after being ousted by Ghana.
However, the Eagles have recovered from the setback as they top their AFCON qualifying group after two wins.
And Osimhen has promised to contribute by scoring goals in order to help secure qualification to the 2023 AFCON.
“We are looking forward to it and I’m happy to be back to the squad it is an amazing feeling and really expecting amazing result in the two legged game against Guinea-Bissau. We don’t underrate our opponent we want to give them the respect they deserve also as a team.
“Of course the boys are ready to give their all come Friday and also the second leg in Guinea-Bissau, I’m looking forward to the game and contribute to the team.
“I want to promise that we will try everything possible to get the win and of course I would like to contribute with a lot of goals and couple of assists and of course the team come first and I want to assure that they will give everything to make sure the fans are happy by getting the win and getting qualification to the next AFCON.
“I don’t care being the highest goal scorer in the qualification because the team comes first but if I end up the highest goal scorer it will be an amazing thing for me but the team comes first.
“I want to say thank you very much for your support, thank you for sticking with me most especially your support throughout the years. I know we might have let you down in the past I want to say we will do everything in our power to make sure that we win your love back.“
Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman expressed hope that he would bring his scoring form to help the Eagles overcome Guinea-Bissau.
“Looking forward to another big game for us in the qualification for the AFCON and is a big opportunity for us to get close to that.
“It is nice to score goals and I hope I take that to the team because it is important for the team winning and qualifying for AFCON.”
And also speaking was Semi Ajayi who stated that he is looking forward to the qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau.
He said everyone is hungry and ready to go and taking in information the coach sent out they are ready to put it to practice.
