Sierra Leone head coach, John Keister has said his side won’t be intimidated by the Super Eagles, reports Completesports.com.
The Leone Stars will confront the three- time African champions in their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday five encounter at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium, Monrovia on Sunday, June 18.
Group A leaders Nigeria are overwhelming favourites to win the contest.
Keister is however adamant his players will give their best against Jose Peseiro’s men.
“We are going to go there to compete. We are not going to go there and lie down. I don’t really need to let the players understand the significance of this game,”Keister said in a short video posted on the official website of the Sierra Leone Football Federation on Thursday.
” I think the players themselves should understand that. They should relish the challenge of coming up against Nigerian players who are doing well overseas.”
Sierra Leone occupy third position in the group with five points from four matches and must win the game to keep their qualification hopes alive.
The Leone Stars started preparations for the game in Monrovia on Thursday (today).

Talk is cheap we will see we only need to get balance in the mid-field that is all team will start collecting wotowoto
There’s no cheap talk they have done it before under Rohr and defeated us in front of our home fans.
@Chima, I thought the game ended 4-4 in Benin.
I didn’t know where the word “defeated” is coming from.
@SEAN are you minding that FOOL @CHIMA HE likes spread LIES about PEOPLE in this FORUM..
Very SATANIC!!!!
Yet HE claims to be a PASTOR…
SMH…
Under bonferree with kanu we all knew the results.nigeria 0 sierra Leone 1
Not to now talk of this ones .if dey beat eagles no surprise.
I pray Super Eagles win but I can’t boast for any Nigeria football team again. With what our under 20 teams just did at Ghana (WAFU zone b) and at fifa under 20 world cup at Argentina last week.
Our girls were better than Ghanaian team. Likewise, our boys were better than South Korean team still they beat Nigeria teams.
I pray NFF wake up and do the needful that can make football loving Nigerian have confidence in Nigeria football teams.
There’s NOTHING the NFF can do to guarantee that Nigerian teams win 100% of the time.
Even Sierra Leone that has never won anything is beginning to pump and thump its chest. They know that a corrupt NFF can ruin the Super Eagles.
Why Won’t they Be confident in beating a team that is not serious?.. I mean just look less than 9 days to the game Nigeria’s list is still not released because they are still collecting Bribes from unmeritted players and waiting for payments from the young guns that merit thier place in the squad i.e. Orban and co. meanwhile Sierra Leone is already preparing for the game is that not shamefull. 2 things is wrong with this picture 1 Nigeria is underestimating this opponent or 2 Nigeria is just not serious about anything concerning ball again. but one thing is for sure Sierra Leone already has 3 days of gearing up for this encounter under thier belts Nigeria is not safe for Qualification yet because if Guinea Bissau Beat Sao Tome which is a guarantee and we lost to Sierra Leone well we all know what that means. Nigeria NFF are a bunch of ungrateful jokers. SAD!
If they lose mumu coach explanation will be we did not have enough time to prepare!.
Oga, continue to wind mouth. It’s not your fault. If NFF were doing things right, you should be quaking with fear instead right now.
But as you rightly observed, this SE team is very beatable. So go ahead. Give it your best shot.
But beware, this SE team can also beat anybody on their day. Even with the absence of some serious talents whose exclusion is indefensible, this team still has the firepower to thrash you comprehensively.
Pls beat them, humiliate them, corruption can’t continue to triumph over merits. Snubbing Boniface and gift for Musa and iheanacho cmon.
If GENERAL ROAH wasn’t SACKED, HE wouldn’t be talking with so much CONFIDENCE….
E be like say you and your Rohr had a blood covenant of perpetual inseperatability. He lives close by now. Better go meet am and apply for the vacant post of his press secretary. You are so good at projecting his image.
Abegi which Rohr? The one that managed to throw away a 4-0 first half lead at HOME against the same Sierra Leone team or is there another one?! SMH
Anyone, Rohr has since gotten another job in Africa (apparently no one elsewhere believed he was capable) with Benin Rep, and can now lead them to WC glory.
Good Riddance!!
Whether GENERAL ROAH threw away a 19 GOAL LEAD, The POINT still is HE did not LOSE AGAINST them! It was RECORDED as a DRAW!!
THANK YOU!!!

WOW, so if we needed a win to qualify, would you be making this same statement. The man has moved on, let him perform the same magic with Benin republic.
Yes I will, because despite GENERAL ROAH being OWED DOZENS of SALARIES, HE still gave hIS BEST..
I’m tied of Ndidi, Aribo, and Onyenka in our midfield, this combo is outdated, old and boring, a good fearless coach would’ve converted Aina and Ebuehi to midfielders by now. These two players have more skills, more ball sense than Ndidi and Onyeka . I believe the Aina ,nwobi Ebuehi combo would properly solve of midfield problems.
Sorry oh. Ndidi and Aribo are both 26 years old. Onyeka is 25. They are just entering their “peak” age range. We might have to do with them for a long time
Ndidi, Aribo and Onyeka are all not up to Toochukwu Nnadi’s level speaking ballwise…
I wish a very good club sees that lad’s potential and snap him up. He is a solid midfield asset. A coach like Samson Siasia will involve that boy in Super Eagles midfield rightaway.
Our pipo say better soup, na money kill am.
See Man City. They threw money at their problems, got a world class coach, gave him some of the best players in the world to work with, and that brought domestic success. But continental success continued to elude them, so they again threw money at the problem, by signing Haaland. They brought Haaland in especially to win the CL, and that has now been accomplished.
Is Man City richer than Nigeria? In normal circumstances, should we not be able to match or even outspend Man City in spending?
Even if we are unable to generate the kind of resources that Man City has, we can use what we have to get the best possible coach, and make sure we select the best players based on current form. Pay the coaches their wages, pay the players their bonuses, and cater to their welfare. This motivates coaches and players to give their all.
But when our administrators are unable to self generate sufficient operating funds, cut corners when it comes to hiring coaches, and insist on a quota for home based players instead of using merit as the selection criteria, then the likes of Mr. Keister will always believe they have a chance against Nigeria. The way our football is currently run, any team with moderate ambition, discipline and ability will fancy their chances against the SE.
We dont need to convert deffenders to midfielders, nigeria is blessed with midfielders the problem is our coaches dont kno how to scout, they are always looking towards big clubs players that can not fully interprete our football in our own mentality, the only coaches that goes beyond media to scout for players are late keshi, oliseh and siasia, the rest are just Playstation coaches including the white imports, for example we have a natural number 10 in a player like tosin kehinde who moves and ball like pele of brazil, he can attack from any angle, goodball sence skillfull and strong, encellent left and right shots and crosses great spead and hard worker now signed by hungarian champions but becos he is not in big club they ignored him that guy will offer more than Eze or holise could offer us, yet he has been waiting for a Chance with the eagle, now in the absent of etebo the only central midfieder in the team, a smart coach will look at the likes of chidibere nwakali and obina nwobodo these are natural central/diffensive midfielders that can make iwobis work easier, divine nwachuku cannot be compared to these above names interms of quality, experience and class. Are our coaches not living in this earth.
List of midfielders that can give us the nest afcon if the coach start to bring them together
Obinna nwobodo, chidibere nwakali, alahasan yosuf, frank onyeka, tosin kehinde, alex iwobi, ndidi daniel daga. With these type of player in ur midfield you can have in beating big teams becos they posses skills class and creativity, they can play against anyteam and posses the game, with the likes of orban, osimen, boniface etc upfront we can win the nest afcon
