The Ambassador of Nigeria to Guinea Bissau, John James Usanga has urged the Super Eagles to redeem the pride of Nigeria by beating Guinea-Bissau in today’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Completesports.com reports.
Recall that Mama Balde’s first-half goal gave Guinea-Bissau the victory over Nigeria at the Abuja National Stadium last week Friday.
Jose Peseiro’s men have now dropped to second position in Group A following the defeat against Guinea-Bissau.
However, in a chat with NFFTV, the Nigerian ambassador stated that football is a unifyng factor in Nigeria and urged the players to pick the maximum points against Guinea-Bissau.
“You’re Welcome to Guinea-Bissau and we are all excited to have you. We are hopeful that you will redeem our national pride. You know that you have our full support. Mr President sent his greetings and I said he needs a party gift from the Super Eagles.
“And he wants me to let you know that there is so much hope on the team because we found out that soccer is very strong unifying factor in Nigeria.
“I want to encourage you that we are with you. There is nothing in this place, this people are our younger brothers. So i know that whatever transpired in Abuja happened. But here hopes are high and we are hopeful for a positive outcome.
“All the Nigerian communities are solidly behind you. They will be with you until you leave.Whatever the outcome, just make sure you enjoy yourselves.”

The ignorant Nigerian ambassador doesn’t know there’s no hope for Nigerian football under corrupt NFF
Everywhere corruption.until we expunge corruption from every aspect of our personal and national lives we will continue to experience this kind of shocks.Nigeria beaten by GUINEA BISSAU and AT HOME.unthinkable.The shame remains even if Nigeria wins today
Very unfortunate this will continue until we do the right thing. I weep for this country
Left for me the Nigerian mission in guinea Bissau shud cover the host country Mali, sierra Leone , Liberia all together…to cut cost ..I m sure guinea Bissau population is not up to the smallest state population in Nigeria….even ekiti is up to 5million people.
Nigerians talks too much!! Is just a game and sometimes these things happens! One loss doesn’t make Nigeria less a giant in African football!
Support ur team period!
What Nigerians doesn’t get is that, the unknown African teams are the most dangerous
You are right about that darling. Xxx Nigerians are to be patient.
