Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi has said poor substitutions from Jose Peseiro almost cost the Super Eagles qualification to the 2023 AFCON.
A brace from Victor Osimhen saw the Eagles race to a 2-0 lead before Mustapha Bundu pulled a goal back for Sierra Leone.
In the 71st minute Peseiro made three changes, bringing on Kevin Akpoguma, Frank Onyeka and Kelechi Iheanacho for Joe Aribo, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Joe Aribo.
Despite making the changes it was Sierra Leone who got on the score sheet as Augustus Kargbo made it 2-2 with six minutes left.

However, Iheanacho scored the winner in the 95th minute to secure qualification.
The win saw the Eagles go top in Group A and secure the ticket for next year’s tournament.
Reflecting on the game, Udeze faulted Peseiro for the manner in which he went about his substitutions which almost backfired.
“For me he made changes that were not necessary, he made three changes at once which for me was not necessary,” Udeze said on Brila FM.
“Those kind of changes is when you are down and you need fresh legs you can make three or four changes at once.
“You are leading and making three, four changes at once was necessary except when a player indicate he’s tired or injured then you can make the changes. For me those kind of changes doesn’t make sense.“

INFACT THIS PASEIRO HAS NOTHING TO OFFER NIGERIA, SUPER EAGLE. HE ALWAYS INVITE/USE PLAYERS BASE ON EGO, NAME, SENIORITY.
HE ALWAYS SCARE TO TEST NEW PLAYER. THANK GOD FOR IZOHO SUSPENSION IF NOT, PASEIRO WILL NOT USE GOALKEEPER ADELEYE.
Man wet Sabi… Abeg help us tell NFF chairman make them no renew he contract… He doesn’t have anything to offer our football…. Since he came nothing has changed from where Rohr left it…. Na to make mouth that Paseiro Sabi…. He is not sound Technically
My own view is that, peseiro is better than eguavoen….but next game,he should invite victor boniface and akpom not musa.
Which coach is sound? Who would be technically sound coaching Nigeria or other African teams??? The big problem a coach faces in Nigeria is getting the invited players to arrive the camp on time. In other countries the players arrive on time, knowing that they have only a week to train for the match. In Nigeria some key players end up coming to Camp a day or 2 to match-day, just too late. Let’s be frank to ourselves, with late arrivals, how can a team blend properly for a match? Despite this sort of problem, Paseiro has churned out the qualification results that we need. Our tactics hinge on high pressing attack, which entails proper blending. How can a player blend well with the team, when he arrives camp so late? Our coach is good. With attack-minded players dominating our National Team, Paseiro’s tactics is very good for Super Eagles. We should be positive. We need to be always supporting our team as well as persuading our players to arrive Camp on time.

The substitution is very good. We need to give game-time to many players, so that the absence of Key players do not cause a huge setback.
