Victor Osimhen has equaled the scoring feat of the late Rashidi Yekini following the Super Eagles 10-0 win against São Tomé and Principe on Monday.
The Eagles ran riot against São Tomé in their second Group A 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Agadir, Morocco.
Osimhen was the standout performer as he scored four goals and also provided two assists.

Terem Moffi scored two goals while Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, Oghenekaro Etebo and Emmanuel Dennis each got a goal.
And according to Opta Nigeria, Osimhen is the first player to score four goals in a match for Nigeria since Yekini scored four in Nigeria’s 7-1 win over Burkina Faso 1991.
The Eagles have now recorded two wins in the qualifiers after sealing a 2-1 comeback win against Sierra Leone last Thursday.
Their next 2023 AFCON qualifier is against Guinea-Bissau in September.

Goals brings out the confidence in any team……That is why you see most top clubs engage lower clubs in preseason friendlies that will most likely result in higher margins of goals……This brings out confidence in the players and give them the avenue to apply the coaches ideas unhindered thereby making them appreciate and understand the coaches philosophy……let me also remind our disguised fans that This is a competitive match and osimhen has just done his record a whole lot of good…… please the true fans,Ignore those Messengers of doom that will soon come here to tell you that what happened today is nothing.
…..and I can see much improvement in our play today as against playing on a bad pitch. What is our sin in Nigeria that we can not have a very good pitch for a free flow of football without hindrance? That Abuja pitch was recently repaired and it has gone so bad so fast. Na wa o….
HONESTLY the whole 10-0 WIN is a RECORD not just only OSIMEHN own
Could easily have broken the record today if he had taken just one more of the scoring chances that came his way today. Now, he may never have the chance again.
Nevertheless, he’s in a good company with Yekini.
Equalled & counting…..
