Completesports.com’s ADEBOYE AMOSU rates the performance of Super Eagles players in their 2023 Africa Cup qualifiying fixture against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in Monrovia on Sunday night
ADEBAYO ADELEYE 6/10
Looked compose on his competitive debut for the Super Eagles. He will certainly get more chance in future.
OSAYI-SAMUEL 5/10
The Fenerbahce defender struggled on the synthetic pitch of the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium. He was replaced by Kevin Akpoguma on 75 minutes.
KENNETH OMERUO 6/10
The experienced defender was at fault for Sierra Leone’s first goal. Omeruo however put up a solid display in the game.
SEMI AJAYI 7/10
The lanky centre-back was preferred ahead of William Troost-Ekong and did well to repay the coach’s faith with a good performance.
ZAIDU SANUSI 7/10
The Porto left-back produced a superb run to set up Kelechi Iheanacho for the Super Eagles third goal of the game.
WILFRED NDIDI 6/10
An above average performance from the Leicester City man.
JOE ARIBO 6/10
Another player who couldn’t cope on the artificial surface. He however gave a better performance in the second half.
ALEX IWOBI 6/10
The midfileder started the game brightly but fizzled out after the break.
SAMUEL CHUKWUEZE 4/10
Another below-par showing from the Villarreal winger. He missed a glorious chance in the first half.
MOSES SIMON 6/10
Threatened the opposition defence early in the first half and was denied a goal by the goalkeeper.
VICTOR OSIMHEN 9/10
The forward scored twice to increase his tally in the qualifiers to seven goals. A superb display from the Napoli man.
SUBSTITUTES

Helped keep things tight at the back following his introduction for Bright Osayi-Samuel.
FRANK ONYEKA 4/10
The midfileder took the place of Wilfred Ndidi and did well in the few minutes he spent on the pitch.

Iwobi was DISASTROUS and SHAMBOLIC, giving away possession that led to those two conceded goals.
Watch the highlights of this game, and see what I mean!
Coming from an Everton Player of the Season; this is unacceptable!
I think the synthetic field contributed to the way of playing. They were protecting themselves from injuries. There’s no free flow football
Protecting themselves from injuries, in a competitive game? If they had lost that game eventually, would that excuse still be tenable?? Hmmm ok oh
The pitch was terrible. Nevertheless the coaches needs to start playing those on form. They can’t keep playing bench warmers.
In a game of this magnitude, you focus less on the pitch and more on the play proper, these guys are meant to be professionals, aren’t they?
Another bias rating from a faceless reporter..
Omeruo and Ndidi were below par.
Chukwueze did not play with the team..
Awoniyi and Nacho had more impact than Chukwueze and Simon the few mins. they were on the pitch..
The coach should start replacing underperforming players. Stop recycling failures…
Pesseiro does not mean well for eagles. Why is chukwueze still starting. Aribo is a big waste. Musa is a waste resources. Ademola lookman is another big waste. Why are you inviting these players or why are you giving them first team chances. Injustice in selection.
In fact the entire team is a waste, right? Look at the number of players you condemned, but you forgot to mention the coach and his useless tactics. Since this man came on board, Eagles matches have been boring. We labour to score, no matter the opposition. We stuggle to defend our lead no matter the margin. No urgency. No pattern of play. We are just attending matches and fulfilling all righteousness. Players look bad under a bad coach, no matter how good they are. Chelsea fans were already losing faith in Victor Moses until Conte showed up. A team and its players are as good as the coach. Let them relieve this man of his duties and look for a better , tactically adept abd disciplined coach, not this site engineer. Peseiro is of no use in that team, trust me. You’ll hate Messi if he plays under man. Trust me.
It shall be well with you. The problem of the Super Eagles is the coach Presario. His contract must not be renewed no matter what. He has nothing to offer us.
They played well, siara leon boys are very rugged. Immediately Osemhen and aribo goes out. Attack and midfield collapse. The Germany guy need to touching his game because if your not rugged, you can’t play Africa football. They know the guy na oyibo man that’s why they bully him always
Congratulations to our dear super Eagle
These ratings are rubbish. How can players who were on the pitch under 20 minutes be ranked?
I was expecting Ahmed Musa a.k.a nonplaying captain to contribute his quota but surprisingly Peseiro did not use his secret weapon Musa. Hahaha… One thing I have noticed is that even @Dr.Drey… Ahmed Musa’s greatest advocate does not even know where to begin from to continue to support Musa anymore… Let Mr.Philanthropist continue to push and collect invitation, no one will tell him after record benching as nonplaying captain… he will advise himself to retire.
Playing on synthetic pitch as we saw in today’s game was a big challenge for most of our players particularly the foreign born, how we saw the athleticism of Osimhem and a few other players. However, one of the high points of today’s game for me was the discovery and debut of Adeleye… He was descent and composed in goal with his reflexes. He could do little with the goals. Osimhen’s goals were beautiful. 17 goals in few games is a decent statistics, 20 shy of late Yekini. With more creative midfield, SE will be in a good position to compete for the next AFCON. I think at this rate we’ll need to give Raphael Onyedika and Kelechi Nwakali a look in. While Raphael will be able to understudy Ndidi, Nwakali’s passing range and his shooting will be able to improve the Eagles’ goalscoring opportunities.

Deo, don’t give up on Nigeria yet. Where is your ratings? Any team that initially allowed its opponent to claw themselves from 2 goals down and equalize needs scorching and no commendation for the BP surge the collapse initiated
