Football is a business. Players are assets on a club’s balance sheet.
A player going out for international duty is like “renting” equipment. The equipment should be well maintained and returned in good condition, and if the equipment is damaged, the lessee would have to pony up some money to cover for repairs.
Akpoguma left Hoffenheim in good condition, and is now going back with facial injury. Who will carry the financial burden of medical treatment and player’s wages when the player is out injured? Of course, na the club go carry am. NFF will not contribute shingbain to the player’s medical treatment or welfare. Player bonus payment nko? FOR WHERE? Yet, they will be asking for yeye commitment from players, when they themselves are not showing the necessary commitment in carrying out their administrative duties.
Next time, if Hoffenheim are reluctant to release Akpoguma, we now know the reason!
Well said.
Poor player management.
