Former Nigeria international Sunday Mba has said the Super Eagles have been placed in a tough group ahead of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
In Thursday’s draw, the Eagles will face hosts Côte d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau in Group A.
Reacting to the draw Mba, scorer of the winning goal that earned Nigeria the 2013 AFCON, predicted that it would not be easy.
“That group is not going to be easy for Nigeria because everybody is preparing in fact all the teams going to this AFCON are ready and prepared,” Mba said on Brila FM.

The former Rangers and Enyimba forward added:”I think that group is a tough group but hopefully Nigeria will qualify from it because it’s not going to be easy.“
The last time the Eagles faced Côte d’Ivoire at the AFCON was the 2013 edition which the former won 2-1.
While the Eagles defeated Guinea-Bissau 2-0 at the 2021 tournament in Cameroon, they will clash with Equatorial Guinea for the first time in the history of the competition.
