Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire head coach Jean-Louis Gasset says it will be a big motivation for his side to face the Super Eagles at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The hosts are pitted in Group A along with Jose Peseiro’s men, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.
The Super Eagles will head into the competition as one of the favourites going by the quality of players at Peseiro’s disposal.
Peseiro boasts of a fearsome attack that has the likes of Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Kelechi Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi and Terem Moffi.
Gasset acknowledged the attacking prowess of the three -time African champions.
“We’ve made up our minds now. We know what we’re going to work on,”Gasset was quoted by CAFonline.
“Facing a team like Nigeria and their attacking prowess motivates us because we’re not looking for the easy way out. We’ll be supported by an entire nation, which is an incredible asset”.
The Super Eagles have won the AFCON title thrice in the past.
The West Africans last tasted success on the continent in 2013 in South Africa.
Cote d’Ivoire have tasted success on the continent twice.
