Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr says the opening games against Liberia and Cape Verde will be key to Nigeria’s quest of qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Rohr made this known on Wednesday during a chat with PUNCH Sports Extra.
The German tactician stated that the Super Eagles must kick-start their campaign on a winning note against Liberia at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos next month.
“We will be ready in September for the World Cup qualifiers,” the German tactician continued.

This coach sef, we understand the tactics.
COMPANY GM (at an emergency managerial meeting): Oga Sales Manager, current market reports are not encouraging. Our competitors are fast out-selling us and we’re losing ground. What’s happening? I know you have the skills and your team has the potentials. So, are you assuring that excellent results this quarter?
SALES MANAGER (standing up with a little hesitation): We’re had some hiccups in the team’s preprations and struggled a bit with tools plus all the coronavirus wahala. But, sir, don’t forget our main competitor, Comapny XYZ are strong too.
BRAND MANAGER (Chips in): In fact, Mr GM< they were number 10 in the market before now and recently beat number 5 that even beat us recently. So, let's not underestimate them please. But, BY GOD'S GRACE, we will do well.
GM: Hmmm… Ok, but I don't know why I feel you're being political and creating a soft landing in the event things go south. All this 'By God's grace,' 'They beat those who beat us' blah blah sound like unnecssary appendages. Anyway, what can I say! I guess you're know what you're doing. It's your turf, so I say good luck, buddy! We're behind you.

What’s happening gan ni? I know you have the skills and your team has the potentials. So, are you assuring us excellent results this quarter?”
SALES MANAGER (Standing up with a little hesitation): “Eerrmm… We’re had some hiccups in the team’s preprations and struggled a bit with tools plus all the coronavirus wahala. But, sir, don’t forget our main competitor, Comapny XYZ are strong too. But I have a young and vibrant team. Although they’re not very experienced, but I THINK they will do well.

BRAND MANAGER: My GM sir, we have gone through this path before sir, not once, not twice but we came out unscathed, infact we came out with our best sales records ever on one of such occasions. So we are already pulling all stops, based on our previous experience and the market info we have gathered, to make sure this exercise also goes the way of others.
It’s a week to the first match and the team list is not out yet, what’s really happening?
If not for the Mexico match, our social media coaches, will be calling Home based to rescue us. If Top 5 league refuse to release, then we move to Turkey and Belgium, we will see boys there.
Let the top leagues not spoil this world cup o. Missing 2 matches during isolation should not be a problem. After all Fifa still pays these clubs that produce world cup players.
Who are we playing these games with? That is the question
I will warn you Nigerians again, don’t expect too much from Pinnick and Oga Rohr.
Point no1, lack of good preparation.
Point no2, most of our players may not report to camp due to pandemic.
Oga Rohr and his boss should have learned their lessons in the previous issues.
During the Afcon qualifiers, most of the players were not released not until last minutes.
Even when we have our A team we are still not the best not to talk about when most of our main players may not be available.
It is well. God bless Nigeria!!!
That’s it if egbo, amuneke nd enyama that u hv been clamoring for are there in this situation blv me they will do nothing to save the situation
This upcoming games will really test our preparedness towards Qatar 2022… Corona or no Corona… no excuses are entertained.
