Confederation of African Football (CAF) have extended their congratulatory message to Senegal coach, Aliou Cisse after the team’s 3-1 victory over Qatar in the 2022 World Cup on Friday.
It was Cisse’s second victory as a coach for Senegal in the World Cup.
Recall that Cisse took the Lions of Teranga to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. where the team defeated Poland 2-1.
However, in today’s encounter the team needed the win and they got it when Boulaye Dia scored first for the African champions in the 41st minute before Famara Diedhou extended their lead in the 48th minute.
Mohammed Muntari pulled one back for the Qatar in the 78th minute powering a header into the net before Bamba Dieng sealed the win for Senegal six minutes later
With the win Cisse became the first African coach to win two FIFA World Cup games.
Caf celebrated Cisse’s feat on their Twitter handle.
“Aliou Cisse=LEGEND The first ever African manager to win 2 #FIFA World Cup games,” they Tweeted.
