Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has warned the team to be careful with the way they handle the Black Stars of Ghana in the fast approaching 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff.
The Leicester City star made this known in an interview with ESPN, where he said that the players are determined and hungry to play at the world football showpiece in Qatar.
Ndidi was among the players invited by the Interim coach of the Super Eagles, Austine Eguavoen on Friday.
“It will mean a lot for us to go back to the World Cup,” Ndidi told ESPN.
“But Ghana will not be easy. To be honest, we have to be careful about their whole team and not just any specific players. It will be two tough games.”
Ghana will have home advantage first and both legs will be played between March 25 and 29 with the aggregate winners securing a place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Nigeria are seeking to qualify for the World Cup a seventh time and, since 1994, have missed only one of seven editions. The last of three appearances by Ghana was in 2014.

LMFAO! Even NDIDI knows the gospel truth. What a humble and modest opinion!
But you guys own and some ex internationals will just be fooling y’all. LMFAO!!
Be careful your coach is. Optimism and pride are two different things. When you listen to an optimistic person, you replicate the same but when the reserve is the case, then, trouble looms. Rohr in the name of humility has cost us bragging rights in Africa, now you can see the remnant of that mentality at work. My allegiance is to the country and not an individual. I am optimistic about Super Eagles against Ghana.
You can say whatever, but Indidi shouldn’t because he’s in team..trust me.. He doesn’t needs it.
@ monkey post… Take am easy na! To be sincere,Nigerians have never been this confidence for a long time. Wonder wetin dey Ginger we fans this time around. But…………..na so we get confidence against Tunisia,Dem go come humble us. Hope we turn things around in cape coast Ghana.
Tunisia knew on that night that they were like a million times lucky.
Without that red card, even with 20 minutes to go, Nigeria would have won it in 90 mins, I promise you.
Keep deceiving yourself that Tunisia were only lucky, the problem was “Pride goes before fall”, SE players thought they have arrived and played that match like a pregnant woman, the 1st half was such a drab performance and they only started playing well after Tunisia scored, which caused them some apprehension that resulted in missing scoring opportunities and the Red card too was as a result of being overtly eager to take control the game
Without that red card..?
They won the match anyways.. That’s football for you.. Litle respzct for Ghanaian team won’t do us any harm..
Of course we don’t expect easy ride from Ghana. You guys have no excuse because we have what it takes to beat them.
They have new coaching crew which is good for us. They are trying to strengthen their team before we meet them but it is too late to do so.
Only Nigerians can beat Nigeria against Ghana period. Starting from the list of the players being invited for the world cup qualifiers against the black stars Ghana, we are not ready yet. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
@omo9ja, over ready dey worry us self.common those players invited can get the job done. The only problem is if the coach fails to deploy good tactics and or fail to switch tactics during the game.
Let them play Ghana from the mildfeild not from the flank. The ghanais have started thinking of how to neutralise simon, not knowing the treath denis and lookman pose to them.
With ighalo and osihmen what happen against tunisia will never happen in ghana. Let ghana be analysing okoye as our weak point, It will shock them to bone marrow.
I will not even want simon to start any of the legs.
Exactly. Good tactics.
It was poor reading of the game that cost us the AFCON match against Tunisia.
The Tunisians neutralised Simon even from very early in the game, but he didn’t adjust on time.
We have won the psychological advantage by first releasing the list of players.
Let the Eagles prepare for penalties as it is possible it all ends in penal.
Ghana has only three players, Partey good at set pieces, Qudus and Sulemana. But we have Dennis, Simon, Osimhen and Aribo the big game player
Well said ,we must focus and remain humble so as to pick maximum points and clinch the ticket
Humility is a sign of quiet determination and optimism. I hope SE coaches snd the other players ard on the sane wavelength with Ndidi.
The SE players need to be fluid and very flexible unlike the way they played against Tunisia at AFCON R16 at Cameroon.
Everyone of the players from midfield to the attack ( Wingers ) should be able to move and interchange positions, not static and dwelling in one position withput moving from flanks to midfield. Moses Simon and Chukwueze/Lookman ( I will prefer Ademola Lookman than Chukwueze, who has been poor since returninh from injury)should easily move to right flank and back to Left when targeted in a particular flank or Wing.
Ndidi and othets in Defense and Midfield should be making long range passes to the strikers and wingers to cut off the Ghana midfielders who are likely to pack the bus in the midfield to try stop the ball reaching our dangerous SE Wingers and Strikers.
On form and paper SE should be able to beat the Black stars home and away. But be warned that Ghana will do everything to beat Nigeria in Cape coast and do a dog fight in the return leg in Abuja. SE will have to be fit, energetic and focused all through the games and never lose concentration.
Please apart from hescore, where else can i watch live matches
Very sensible young man, than his coach going about ranting we beat Ghana, and some fans opening their mouth. It won’t be easy at all. Till the final whistle guys. Ndidi thanks for your candid opinion. I agree.
