And after receiving the torch, the Oniru commended the organizers for the initiative.
“I would like to congratulate the organizers of the event. Marathon is usually for a purpose, for people to keep fit and I believe that keeping fit is important and healthy. Once you can get that done you will be able to loose all the chronic diseases, hypertension, obesity and the rest. So keeping fit is very good.“
The LCDA chairman Adu said:“We all know that we need this to exercise ourselves and basically what I was able to gather from the organizers of the event is that it’s going to be for the community. And that is what we as government are looking out and that we should not leave everything to the government because the government alone cannot do everything.“
And according to the organizer Nwanze, he thanked the Oniru for his support stating they are eager for the second edition of the Community race to hold.
He said:”Our primary focus here is health. Keeping fit every other thing can play in and the King is a sport man and he has exhibited that he is part of it by receiving the torch from us. So we are very happy, we are very grateful and we are looking forward to the 29th of January.“
It would be recalled that the Community Marathon torch was presented at the Eti-Osa Local Government November 3rd.
On hand to receive it were Wasiu Akintola, Council Manager, Honourable Saheed Adesegun Bankole, Executive Chairman Eti-Osa Local Government, Omoba Adeola Adetoro, the Vice Chairman Eti-Osa Local Government.
