The home-based Super Eagles have it all to do after they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to the Black Galaxies of Ghana, in the first leg of the 2022 CHAN final qualifying round on Sunday, Completesports.com reports.
The game which was played inside the Cape Coast stadium, Accra, saw Afriyie Barnieh and Suraj Seidu getting the goals for the Black Galaxies.
After a goalless first half it was the Black Galaxies who broke the deadlock on 49 minutes from the spot, thanks to Barnieh who calmly sent the home-based Eagles the wrong way.
Barnieh scored one of the goals in the 3-0 first leg win against Benin Republic in the previous qualifying round.

He also got the only goal in the 1-0 win for the Black Galaxies in the return leg in Cotonou.
And in the 85th minute Seidu doubled his side’s lead to put them in a comfortable position going into the second leg.
Both teams will meet in the second leg billed for Saturday, September 3rd, inside the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
The winner over two legs between Ghana and Nigeria will qualify for next year’s CHAN in Algeria.
The home-based Eagles failed to qualify for the 2020 CHAN after losing to Togo in the qualifiers.
While for the Black Galaxies the last time they featured at the CHAN, was at the 2014 edition held in South Africa where they lost to Libya in the final.

There’s no way back for Nigeria thanks for Nff negligence!
Ghana has done a double against Nigeria now at senior level congratulations Ghana..
Nigeria played very well in the first half and if they gel in the return leg, they can cause a lot of problems for us!! Nigeria has some shape about them in this match and they can build on this
Thanks you’re a kind man but we aren’t prepared so in that regards I do not see a way back not against a Ghanaian team.
What I realized was you guys always wants it more from the administrators, coaches and the players.
You guys deserve to go to Chan more than us you took your preparations seriously so you have my support.
Congratulations!
The nigerian team are afraid to score Ghana in the 1st half . They are not use to counter attack style of play . Even wen dey have the 1st half going for them . Wen they are free in the Ghana half instead of going for goals dey wil be looking for who to pass the ball to and before u no wat is up the Ghanaian defense wil take the ball away from them .
The after effects of national team loses in other competitions is affecting the nigerian teams lately.
See the goals scored by the Ghanaian team do they think twice. No . One two touches and mother luck wil get the ball into the net.
Let see wat wil happen in the second legs …
I no Ghana wil sit back for 94mins in mko stadium.
For the first i read your post devoid of insults and mocking. Let the best team qualify. By the way i will be supporting Ghana in the world cup despite bitter rivalry.
Chan Eagles need to put 3 unreply goals to qualify. There’s still hope.
Ghana 2: NFF 0.
Exactly bro
My brother, I couldn’t have said it better.
Ghana prepared well, they beat Benin 4 goals to nil in their first round and travelled to Australia to play friendly. What Nigeria are doing by then? Instead to prepare the team and play friendly against another country, they select team just last two weeks.
Pinnick Amaju must go .He always adopt fire brigade approach and has destroyed our football
In Nigeria all the talk was about eating JOLLOF instead of preparing seriously for such an important game. The Ghanaians were setting their trap quietly and have reaped the rewards of their better braibs.
Ghana officials together with Nigeria shouid boycott this bullshit system of qualification because there’s clear caf conspiracy here
we love your well-thought-out analysis for the first. Thank you for your balanced views.
So unfortunate that they’ll still want to force some of these players on Paseiro. Please, I didn’t watch the match, does anyone of them deserve Super Eagles call up?
2023 CHANQ:’We Know The Strength Of Ghana’ —Home-Based Eagles Coach, Yusuf
Congratulations to Ghana.I think they prepared better for the match and would have been a travesty of Justice if Nigeria have won. There are no short cut to success. We will not always get away with it.
That said, this qualifications format must be dispensed with ASAP.It is fraudulent and very unfair. What this means is that two of the following West African countries- Ghana, Nigeria and ivory Coast will be missing out on CAF competitions on a regular basis whereas south Africa will always be qualifying as they are never pitched against Zambia in qualifications.
But Pinnick, Ghana as well as Ivory coast FA chairmen were there when the decision was taken.what were they thinking?
The last AWCON in Morocco, the outcomes would have been different were Ghana and Ivory coast qualified.
you just said the truth. There is a conspiracy and we are keeping quiet. Why don’t they do it on CAF champions league or club competitions.
Where are all those invite home based ppl now. They will open their smelling mouth in a few months
Hahaha, nice one.
A few months is too far na.
Check back in just a couple of weeks, and some pipo will have started clamouring for home based players again!
I said it some days ago that those homebase eagles guys looks like Japa people. The coach was making mouth that he knows Ghana weakness and will exploit it. It is only the Ghana weakness you know but you don’t know tjeir strength.
As for picnic or whatever keep accepting all kind of qualification formula from caf without any resistenace just because you need them to endorse you for Fifa appointment.
It will be back fire for you. Just go and ask those who gang up against rohr how market be.
It will back fire on your feature plans.
Congrats, Ghana. They’re making good use of a bad situation (fraudulent qualification formula) with astute planning and campaign. Nigeria is once left confused and stranded. Pity NFF is too incapacitated and corrupt to prepare a team thoroughly for a competition. We rely on the fire brigade’s approach: share funds among themselves (board members, coaches) who close their eyes; impromptu “gather to play” team two weeks before a contest, and a mentally deranged coach foams at the mouth “we know their weaknesses!”
What more chaos can we tolerate.
What more injury can our soccer be inflicted with?
The South Africans have studied us and decoded our strengths and weaknesses. And, voilà, the WAFU qualification pathway! All it takes is to stuff SA rands into the pockets of FA presidents from West Africa, and they’ll go to sleep
letting the South Africans operate uninhibited. Time for west Africa to get out of this dirty corner. We cannot do it without a fight.
One rule for Southern Africans, another rule for West Africans. Let’s wake up and say NO to this CAF gang up. No to NFF.
The south African ‘Oga’ knows very well the best way to neutralize the West African superiority in Africa football is to easily match Ghana vs Nigeria to kill off themselves before they everybody else. They always fear the dominations of the west Africans in their sequency. Voting the South African to this exulted position was a bad idea. South Africa is where corruption begins and end. Even their one-time President is serving many years in jail as we speak. Thank you, Sefe-made of Ghana, for highlighting this.
THERE’S NO MAGIC IN FOOTBALL IT’S WHAT YOU PRACTICE YOU WILL PLAY. HOW YOU PREPARE IS HOW YOU WILL PLAY AND THAT’S THE RESULT YOU WILL GET. GHANA WAS BUSY PREPARING THE TEAM BY LINING UP QUALITY FRIENDLIES BOTH HOME AND ABROAD WHILE NIGERIA TEAM COULD NOT PLAY ANY TEST MATCHES BECAUSE THE LEAGUE WAS ON A LONG BREAK WHEN OTHER FOOTBALLING NATIONS ARE ON SEASON. NIGERIA COULD ONLY PLAY TEST MATCH WITH SELECTED TEAM WHICH THEY MANAGED TO BEAT 3-2 ONAZI INVOLVED. SO WHICH MAGIC ARE YOU EXPECTED THE PLAYERS WHO COULD NOT PUT 2 PASSES TOGETHER TO PERFORM AGAINST A FORMIDABLE TEAM
IN FACT AS I EARLIER STATED BEFORE THIS MATCH I WAS EXPECTING THEM TO BE TAKEN TO THE CLEANET FOR WHITEWASHING IN BOTH LEGS OF THE GAME ( HOME AND AWAY MATCHES) USE THEM FOR FURTHER PRACTICES BY THE GHANA TEAM. BUT I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE GHANA GIVE THEM SO MUCH RESPECT IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE GAME ONLY TO BECAUTIONEDIN THE DRESSING ROOM. ANYWAY I KNOW THEY CAN STILL DO THAT IN NIGERIA SO WE WILL LEARN OUR LESSONS. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GHANA TEAM.
The future of Nigerian football is bright! And I tell you why. All 3 presidential candidates are keen on sports. Come 2023 we shall have an efficient and civilized Sports Ministry.
Nigeria was robbed with poor officiating. How on earth will the ref deny us clear penalty calls. Even Ghana’s penalty was not a hand ball. this was just a one sided game. See you saturday boys
Everyone including the Ghanaian here(except Felix) said the truth, our football needs overhauling and as for the NFF well @deo said it best they’ve lost the plot again because they do not have a clear plan for our national teams and this has been going on for so long,no vision,no clarity and you want to qualify for major tournaments…ok una go jump fence enter. The caf conspiracy is not only limited to national teams alone, the west African clubs are been given difficult draws especially in the second rounds, even the new caf super League will have few west African clubs in it all because our administrators are spineless and can’t do anything right, imagine Simba SC that haven’t won any caf competition participating in the super League when there are teams like Enyimba,ASEC mimosas, Ashanti kotoko etc. This current administration of NFF should not just go but retire if they knew the damage they’ve done to our football.
Could i call it illiteracy or arrogant? that someone should be trying one method for so long and not achieving any goal or success but he Continue or repeatedly exercising the same method. Nigeria should change their attitude against the Igbos. if they wish to excel like the past records. The super Eagles failed to qualify for the WC because the coach preferred to keep the best players mostly from the Igbo extraction on bench, the same goes to the super falcon/ Falconets coach, the current Chan coach repeating the same issue even to the extend of keeping the most excel player in Npl Madu in bench. The scandal in the basket teams both men/female not exclusive.
Nothing good in every aspect of life can come to Nigeria as long as Failure Buhari and his Association of Past Criminals (APC)are still in control of leadership .
This Nigeria home based not fit to be in the Same E
NO CAUSE FOR ALARM
ACCORDING TO SEGUN ODEGBAMI WISHES, THIS IS THE HOMEBASE EAGLE NIGERIA WILL PARADE IN NEXT WORLD CUP & AFCON QUALIFIERS.
If you like go and borrow Brazil 1st eleven na zero you go get unless Failure Originator Buhari and his political party kicked out of Aso Rock and look for Agbagba meta to come and pray for the cleaning of th sit of power.
