Qatar defeated Super Eagles AFCON group opponent Egypt on penalties to clinch third-place in the FIFA Arab Cup on Saturday.
The heated game seemed like it could be heading in either direction as both teams managed near-equal possession of the ball, with Egypt slightly taking the upper hand in the final minutes.

But the match went to extra time after Egypt’s several attempts on goal were stopped by Qatar’s goalkeeper Meshaal Barsham.
No goals were scored either in the extra 30 minutes, and in the penalty shootout that followed, Qatar won by 5-4, with Barsham again the hero.
Later on Saturday, Tunisia will be hoping to cause an upset when they take on African champions Algeria for the title.
Seven-time African champions Egypt will kick-off their AFCON against Nigeria, on Tuesday, 11 January, 2022 in Garoua.

If Qatar can defeat Egypt then Nigeria have nothing to worry about.
I think you’re lacking behind if you don’t know this is not the main Egyptian team, and also Qatar is the host nation of the tournament. Qatar had been training for ages, churning out great results against Asian top dogs. Don’t even underrate Iran least to say or Saudi. Football has changed in Asia.
You are the one underating Iran, a country that is 21 on Fifa log. Saudi arabia 48 while Egypt is 45. Qatar is 10 places below Egypt. Nigeria is 36 that’s 15 places below Iran. Ad at Nov 2021.
Never I don’t underrate Asian football of late.
