Former Nigerian midfielder, Garba Lawal believes Benin and Lesotho don’t have what it takes to withstand the fire powers of Super Eagles in the forthcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
‘Chindo’ as he was fondly called during his playing days, however, warned the team to avoid playing to the gallery in order to avoid the mistakes they made against Sierra Leone.
In an interview with Punch, Lawal insisted that the Super Eagles must be ruthless in their remaining two games if they are to qualify for the 2021 AFCON tournament.
“The players know it’s very important for them to win the game.
“Under normal circumstances, Benin and Lesotho are no match for Nigeria, but now everything is possible. We saw it against Sierra Leone and even the players couldn’t believe that they would play 4-4. Right now, football is unpredictable and it is the 90 minutes that will determine the winner.
“I believe they (players) don’t want to take any chances as they did against Sierra Leone. This means they must be ruthless in their next two games because no country is a pushover now in football.”
