Ahead of the team’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho, former Nigerian midfielder, Emmanuel Amuneke has advised Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr to select the right players capable of getting the job done for the team.
The three-time AFCON champions sit top of Group L on eight points, while the Squirrels of Benin have seven points with four matches played.
A win for the Super Eagles could all but seal qualification to the tournament slated for Cameroon with a game to spare.
Speaking with Completesports, the Atlanta Olympic gold medalist said that with the array of players at Rohr’s disposal, the team has no excuse not to deliver.
“I am really delighted that the Super Eagles have an array of talents to pick ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho.
“However, selecting the right players will be Gernot Rohr’s biggest challenge with the team considering the fact that most of our players are doing well with their various clubs in Europe.
“Rohr must carefully select his team and ensure he motivates the players to give out their best.”

My lovely brother Gen.AMUNKIE, selecting of good players isn’t an issue with Rohr which we all know ever since he steps in.
Infact that has been one of the thing his enemy are using against him.
They want him to pick below average players ahead of the good ones which is contrary to his policy.
As we all know, it’s only in Nigeria we see “fishermen, farmers, market women, firewood sellers etc” that knows nothing next to soccer come out in numbers, mount pressure on the coach to invite their own players.
U don’t see this in civilise world.
Should they allow the coach do what he’s paid for, all this set back can’t be in our dictionary.
Remember the first 2 years(2016-2018) he was given a free hand we all saw what happened in terms of result.
We’ve players in abundant to invite which we’re even thinking on who should(not) be called, lo & behold NFF has already prepared their 4 home base players leaving Rohr with only 19 slots.
We all know that a coach can’t pick more than 3 CF for a qualifier & we’ve:
ONUACHU
SODIQ
MOFFI
AWONIYI
on ground, who should we pick when EVERYBODY WANT THEIR OWN TO BE SELECTED?
SOME FELLOWS EVEN WANT US TO CALL ADI BACK.
ISN’T THIS ABSURD?
Hmmmm.
AMUNIKE It is well o!

Brother Amunike this is one of the reasons why you fall our hands by rejecting the role given to you by NFF. No doubt your input in super eagle will go along a way given by your experience and your technical ability.
If you want the progress of super eagle under coach Rohr you have to take up that job NFF has offered you.
Thank you so much for your advise Mr. Amunike.
You know better and I know that you are following the Super Eagles progress.
Oga Rohr is very rigidi in terms of selection.
Getting his tactics right is another issue.
Relying too much on certain players won’t help the Super Eagles.
Osimhen should be left alone for now. Akpeyi and Ighalo shouldn’t be included for one reason. We have young talented players that can do the job.
The gaffer shouldn’t be panic, God is with him and we are solidly behind him.
He should please and make the best selections. That’s what we are saying. Ire o. Thank you so much Mr. Amunike. One love. God bless Nigeria!!!
“…The gaffer shouldn’t be panic…and we are solidly behind him…”
BUAHAHAHAHAHAHA….
Who are the “WE” that are behind Rohr if i may ask?
KIKIKIKIKIKI…. (I LAUGH IN IDOMA)
HYPOCRICY IN THE HIGHEST ORDER….
LET ME JUST UNVEIL YOUR MIND;
@OMO9JA U ARE PRAYING FOR THAT INNOCENT MAN TO LOOSE SO U CAN COME HERE & SPEW YOUR NORMAL GABAGE….
SEE THE WAY I SHOCK U…..
treachery once again……emmanuel amuneke that twice resisted the opportunities to work close to the super eagles is now telling the man in charge to do what he knows how to do best, ofcourse Gernot Rohr is best in man management nd motivation…..It’s like an apprentice telling his boss what to do…..imagine a Zinedane Zidane telling Gernot Rohr what to do,how much less an Amuneke to him……anyway the man is humble nd cool headed
Awoniyi is injured for now so he most likely won’t be invited, osimhen has fitness issues, I would leave him out if I was the coach. Moffi is in form, he should be invited along with sadiq and onuachu. If onuachu is to start, I will suggest that the coach should play iwobi on the right and simon on the left so they can provide service to him. If he doesnt perform then in the second half sadiq or moffi can come in. Lets focus on the players we are sure of and not keep day dreaming of players we wish will switch allegiance to the Super Eagles.
My starting list:
OKOYE
AINA. EKONG. LEON. ZAIDU.
NDIDI.
ETEBO. ARIBO.
IWOBI. SIMON.
ONUACHU.
I don’t think fighting or using words dt don’t bring unity, is d right way to go, let rohr use players in there right position dn something we don’t have yet is a creative player dt can hold d ball ad lay passes we need ds so much now
@Akaten10
Is Rohr the first & only coach that uses players in an unfamiliar position?
Why didn’t u pple question ARTETA for using SAKA at LB?
Question FERGUSON for converting A.VALENCIA from RW to RB.
Gareth Bale started as LB but today he’s a prolific attacker, question his coach at spurs for doing that.
Don’t forget, at either MAINZE 05 or FORTUNER DEUSELDOLF, BALOGUN operated as RB. No wonder his first match for SE against Mexico(where he picked injury that ruled him out of 2014 WC) OKECHUKWU KESHI brought him in the 2nd half to replace EFE AMBROSE; But nobody question Keshi. If Rohr decides to use Balogun at RB today all farmers & fishermen that knows nothing next to football in nigeria would start spewing gabages.
Morinho at inter milan would ask a striker (BALOTELI) to operate from wing, our sport aficionados didn’t ask questions.
David Alaba as we all know was a LB that can also slot in to DM, but his coach is using him as CB yet no question.
I remember when QUARDIOLA would use PHIL FODEN(a DM) at LB.
When liverpool were having full house, KLOPP sometimes decide to keep ROBERTSON on the bench and ask ANOLD to operate at RB.
Our sport aficionado would not blame Klopp for doing that.
Harbouring hatred in our heart against human like us make us think, reason and talk “foolishly”…
In modern day soccer swapping of players is normal.
Let’s stop behaving like an illitrate….
Anyway;

We are so quick to advice the coach to bring a particular player that has not even played with the team for once to join them for the qualifiers. PLEASE, THIS IS A QUALIFYING MATCH NOT A FRIENDLY MATCH. How do you expect new entrants to blend with the rest of the team?
The coach should look at those players we have in same club for understanding purpose. Kelechi and Ndidi, Aina and Maja etc should top the list. there’s an understanding from their clubs, they can blend on international scene. other players that have played previous qualifiers and are doing very well in their respective clubs should join the aforementioned. My opinion pls.
Oga Rohr seriously does not have any plans for the Home base. In the days of Keshie, he would have opened camping for the home base and allow the foreign base to join the training later. He may pick a game-changer from among the home base. what is he doing for one month he came into Nigeria? Why can’t he open camp for home base players?
