Rivers United left-wing-back, Ebube Duru, says that winning two NPFL titles within a space of four seasons at his young age signifies a brighter career future, Completesports.com reports.
Duru who will turn 23 on July 31,
was part of Lobi Stars that were crowned Nigerian Champions in 2018 and went on to reach the CAF Champions League group stage.
With the Nigerian top flight set to come to a fitting end this weekend, Duru and his Rivers United teammates will welcome Gombe United in a dead rubber matchday 38 fixture, the Pride of Rivers having already been confirmed the runaway winners after the conclusion of matchday 35 games.
And the one-cap Super Eagles defender told Completesports.com in an exclusive interview that he was delighted to lay his hands on the domestic league top prize a second time in four seasons, stressing that it’s a pointer to the fact that his career is headed for the skies.

“I’m extremely happy to win the league title again,” Duru said in a relaxed mood.
“It’s not easy at all to win the NPFL trophy, taking into account the quality of teams involved and the strong competition amongst the clubs.
“I’m very proud of myself for winning it with Rivers United in a blaze of glory.
“Yes, I’m thrilled with our [title] victory because we did it in a record fashion.
“I’m proud of our efforts, team spirit, the coaches, management and our supporters who were always behind us, pushing us through”.
The former Nigeria U23 National Team defender who made his senior national team debut in the CHAN Eagles clash against Togo in 2019, told Completesports.com that God was the first he would dedicate his 2021/2022 league success to.
“First, I dedicate it God because He used my father, Bishop Isaac Ikechukwu Duru, to make sure that I made the right transfer decision at the start of the season,” he stated.
“At that time, there were five teams knocking at the door. Rivers United were even the last.
“But God used my father to ensure I made the right decision.

“I’ll also not forget the Governor (of Rivers State), Nyesom Wike. He provided everything that we needed and ensured we lacked nothing.
“Of course, my parents who were always there for me.
“I also dedicate the victory to the technical crew headed by Stanley Eguma, the management of the club and our supporters. I can’t thank them enough”.
Duru added: “Our ambition is to go into the continent and do the nation proud.
“We’ve a good team made up of young players who are determined, hardworking and committed, ready to make their marks in the continent.
“We also have a very sound technical crew and with the support of the Governor, we will go into the continent and prove our quality.”
