Enugu Rangers suffered their second defeat in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)this season on Thursday losing 2-1 to Insurance of Benin in a rescheduled game played at the University of Benin Sports Complex, reports Completesports.com.
The Flying Antelopes also had their unbeaten run halted in Benin City after 13 consecutive games.
Enugu Rangers’ Seka Pascal was sent off 21 minutes into the game for kicking an Insurance player.
Junior Osaghae gave the hosts, Bendel Insurance, the lead in the 34th minute but Kelvin Itoya restored parity for ten-man Rangers four minutes later.
Stephen Sodje scored the winner for Insurance in the 52nd minute of the encounter to extend their unbeaten streak at home to eight games.
The win was Insurance’s fourth of the season and it has moved them up to seventh in the Group A standings of the NPFL while Rangers remain top of the log despite the defeat.
Insurance Of Benin will host Niger Tornadoes in a match day 17 clash on Saturday while Rangers will travel to Aba to face second-placed Enyimba.
